SG9665GC v2 occasionally recording out-of-focus

Hi,

Today I observed a weird effect on my 1-week old V2 camera (bought through Amazon.com from Pier28). Sometimes the camera records out-of-focus in the distance, while other times it will be nice and sharp in the whole frame. It seems to be that if it fails to focus at the beginning of the recording, the whole drive will be out of focus. Settings are mostly default (except EV is at -1/3)

Here are some raw videos for comparison. This is a drive where objects immediately close to the car are relatively sharp, but signs (and overall scenery) are out of focus. At the end of this clip there is footage from inside a parking garage, which also shows that signage is difficult to read, unelss it's right next to the car (and even then it's not as clear as on some occasions).

Here is a clip from the start of my next drive when I was pulling out of that same spot a little later. Notice how much sharper it is (even the cross beam has more detail).

The only detail that I can provide is that the blurry recording is from a drive where I had my car parked outside for most of the day (until 4PM) in the sun. The recording that was sharp was when I had my car parked in the parking garage for ~30 mintues.

This doesn't seem like normal behavior and has me concerned.

couple of things, can you update to the latest firmware, leave the EV set at 0 and can you also try it with WDR turned off and compare results

Sure, mind pointing me to the latest firmware? The SG/support page "latest" link seems like the same version that's on the camera.

No. My garage door is pretty boring.
 
So far with the new firmware my drive to and from work has been recorded in very sharp detail. Jokiin, is there a reason why you think the original FW could be the culprit here?

Unfortunately I wasn't able to leave the car outside during the day to warm up (which was the condition when the blurry video occurred), so I'm not going to call it a total victory yet. By Friday I will have a chance to do that.
 
Hey guys, so it's happening still (I haven't had time to check on my videos until today). I haven't mucked with any settings since my last post. Again, the condition was a car parked outdoors for a couple hours in the sun. It never returned to focus during the drive. Only started recording in focus after I went to a store and turned the car on again.

I'm really concerned that this unit escaped some Q/C.
 
might be a problem with the lens, we've had another user that has had a similar thing going on, I can't download your videos to check them so I'll wait until the other guys have had a look, if it looks to be a hardware issue we'll arrange to replace your camera

That doesn't look sharp to me. In the blurry ones you have the bottom edge of the bonnet sharp. I think this is a lens issue.
 
I bought the camera through Pier28 on Amazon. If it's confirmed that a replacement is needed, would I need to go through Amazon to request a replacement, or directly through Pier28 on this forum?
