Well I've just random focus issues with my GT880S so decided to strip it and see if there was an issue with the glue - well these are put together very well and it was harder to strip than the GT680W.

I'm not sure what sort of glue they used on the lens but I didn't think it was ever going to shift - you can see that I actually removed the lens decoration first and it really took some doing. In light of that I'd say it's a faulty lens I have here and it's just the glass within the lens shifting slightly. The glue was rock hard and didn't peel off once it let go like every other lens I've done.

I've dropped the lens decoration off anyway so I can tweak the focus in the car.

Anyway, here are a few shots - you can see that it is most definitely the spiritual successor of the GT550 as it's labelled that way on the mainboard.

There's a second header that is hidden by the casing and I assume this is another GPS port that isn't required due to it being connected directly to the motherboard like the DOD LS4x0 range and the Panorama G etc.

The GPS is a Skylab SKG16A:

I never bothered flipping the mainboard - I probably should have done in hindsight but I've had some wine and we already know this is the Novatek 96650 anyway.

Anyway, here are the pics.
