First dashcam purchase, which i will hardwire. Want something that works well and is reliable without too muxh fiddling.

I found the A119 and was going to buy but then i was pointed to the thinkware f50 which looks nice. But then i have heard the video quality isnt great.

And then today, there has been quite a price drop on amazon uk for the a119. So both the a119 and the f50 are pretty much same price (when adding hardwire cable, GPS and memory card).

Should i get the A119 or stick with the (arguably) better F50 brand?

And is this hardwire kit ok?

Hi Superdon,

Welcome! I'm pretty new myself, just joined yesterday but have been secretly reading reviews of Street Guardian products and other potential cameras for several days now.

In my experience, which I only have one other than this camera. You typically get what you pay for. I paid for the Wheelwitness HD Pro and it had its issues with sound and not recording saved emergency files correctly so I ended up getting the SGZC12SG. Customer service was great with Wheelwitness but did not understand why I would have to pay shipping to return the item versus sending it back to amazon without shipping cost incurred to me as it was verified by the seller, a defect. The SGZC12SG did not have any issues but I did notice extremely bright dynamic lighting especially to lighter colors such as yellow and white.

I have a sample video on my thread if you are interested and curious about what I am describing:
https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/new-to-sgzc12sg-some-questions-about-brightness.20719/

Customer service through Jokiin and Pier28 are top notch, couldn't ask for more other than getting one that functioned properly but nothing is 100% fool proof especially with mass produced electronics.

My thoughts are, and it may be the same as yours, "something with enough resolution and clarity to read 20ft ahead of you and to your immediate left and right lanes." was what I was ultimately looking for. I understand depending on sensors each has their own strengths and weaknesses so it definitely is a compromise. From what I am gathering from research is that for the price point of A119, this is the best bang for the buck and has an exceptional resolution at 1440p that may work for me. Honestly, when it comes down to it you will need to test it yourself and make that call to buy it or not. Too many external factors that influence the outcome of the picture quality and quality control that affects the worthiness of a camera to just depend solely on reviews these days. Oh and don't get me started on the fake reviews on Amazon o_O

If you buy from "Fulfilled by Amazon", then it is overall safe buy.
1st cheaper hardwire is low quality built. It can work some time, but they know for interference and other issues.
Next base is probably safer buy, but they also reported to have interference on some cars.

Can you suggest a good quality but budget hardwire kit?

Low "Budget" and "quality" usually don't go together. I would recommend to go with mid-price well known reputable branded products. I do believe Nextbase might work for you. If not ( if bought from "fulfilled by Anazon") you can always return it. Many goods from "budget" price range has to go through individual test and try to fit individual car specifics.
