Simple Yi cam teardown, adjust lens for better focus (pics)

I still use only 1080P 30FPS cause i dont use timelaps or something like that :)

but im getting more quality in 1080p 60fps i notice that.

and at night i disable low ligth because if you have low ligth enable makes a lot of noise and ralenti the video.
the lense should be brighter with his 2.8 aperture.

It's hard to me to tell if my Xiaomi needs to be refocused.
Is there any way to check it easy?

I'm not really intending to use it for selfies. Does every xiami come with this "close focus" not infinty configuration?

i see the pictures fine, maybe you can get more sharp pic if you refocus the lens, but im not an specialist, wait for other comments.
also we need to take into account that the day is cloudy, the pic that i share look a little bit more sharp but was a sunny day.
I dont know, wait for other comment.

I'm a photographer indeed.
I do know when pictures are in focus or not.
But I do not know if this camera is sharp enough in the details. Pictures looks "ok" like that, when I crop I guess I can get more details, but don't really know how much detail I can get and if it's worth it opening the camera for a little more sharpness.

I will wait for more comments and replies!

yes everything is in focus, but i have the same doubt as you. i dont know if i can get more sharp and more details with this camera, mine pic are more less the same as you.
but when you zoom it you see that there is not much details.
you as a photographer know how important is light.
Thanks

This conditions are no good.
I guess I can get a little more details re focusing.

a little bit better but , also better light conditions.

the one at night was with the shutter and leaving the camera in a block, to avoid moving the camera, because at nigh the shutting speed slow automatically.

i was trying to check your pictures, but I do need access, already asked for it chispaworld at gmail

Wow!
Yours look pretty good.
Even when cropping them.
I will try to get some pictures with better light and will see if they still suck at sharpness when zooming in. If they do, I will fix it. Now I really like your sharpness quality and know I can get better image quality.

i wasw thinking in open the camera to fix a little bit the sharpen. im using the camera to take photos at the beach, some landscaping and also some selfies, i can share more pictures that i have at home. Overall the quality is really good im not planing to print this pictures in high resolution to hang on the wall, just to make a little color corrections and upload in social networks.

i have some pic taken at beach and the quality is amazing, underwater too.

...find your fotos are good enough @Batto271 and @Sergio.cabrera. The watercolor effect in zooming in is normal for xiaomi yi. This camera costs about 70 dollars, do not expect to much and do not compare with the newest gopros. This camera is a very good alternative for hobby using, profis need better ones.
But for that price xiaomi is a unbeatably good actioncam comparable with gopro hero 3. The gopro3 + black and the gopro 4 are definitly better, but for this much more expensive.
The camera first is for making videos, so compare your videos with same resolution if they are good enough for you. Fotos from other users specially the non L versions are much more blurred than yours, so a lens refocussing makes sense. The biggest problem of L versions are the missing IR filter so footages against sun becomes a white shadow and and violett colour spots. So a lense replacement is the best way. The second thing is the light situation, less light means lesser quality. Sunny days highnoon are the best for footages...
You can last tweaking your cameras by using scripts for sharpness, saturation, noise, gamma...or at last editing in your software. I have tested so much with firmwares, scripts ...the problems with sharpness also with refocussed lens are normal for the xiaomi. SJ 4000 and SJ 5000 do it better, for this the software is very bad. But in all camera disciplines together (app, video, foto, timlapse, burst, using as dashcam, accu, scripting, price, support, firmware modifying...) it is a fantastic cam.
Be happy with your xiaomi yi.

Oh, I am very pleased with the Xiaomi Yi.
I'm no pro or at least I do not need a GoPro quality for footage. I just use it for random action stuff. And the camera is amazing, prices is really good and quality for that price keeps amazing me. The software is pretty neat too.
I am indeed so happy that bought a second one for a project.

I was being a little picky about the sharpness!

Be happy with your xiaomi yi.

When i ordered the camera i told to my girl "Im buying this to try it, but im not expecting so much" but when i got the camera, i was amazed really good quality much more i expected.
Im very happy really, and i have videos with my xiaomi and also with a gopro if you want i can share with you. A friend of mine he has a gopro hero black 4 and we went together to a amuzement park and we take photos and videos, and both record everything and you can see both videos are mostly the same. Im very happy with the camera, but if you can improve the quality is better...

And i think that i have your custom firmware installed. the one with 35mbts..

Thanks
