So, I installed my $55 Viofo G1W-S today.

Got it here

I installed it onto my rear view mirror stalk.
Very easy to tuck the wires away and plug into Cig.

I used this SanDisk 64GB Card

It powers on/off and auto REC's (set it and forget it.)

It seems to be fine for what I need it for.
(police evidence, not HQ movie making)

Really glad I got this done!
I hope it keeps working.

I am tempted to raise the EV and blow out the blue sky
That way, the entire picture is brighter.
Is that a common practice with dash cams, since half the screen is usually sky?

I think many try to angle the camera lower so its more like 30-35% sky

they're great cams... I only sold mine because I wanted one more discreet, the G1W-s (due to its size and shape) was far too far over to one side because of my rear view mirror

Mine is tucked right under the rear view, and isn't in the way at all.
It's perfectly centered. Not sure why you had an issue?

Yea, I'll lower it to show more dash, but setting EV+1 really made it bright enough.
The sky is now more white than blue. Fine by me.

Glad you are happy with it, and you got everything set. Always good to ride with a camera along side.

It was too low on the windscreen if I put it right below the rear view mirror, if I tried to position it slightly off to one side to get it higher up, I couldn't safely press the "event save" button without either knocking the mirror or hitting the power button. Maybe not an issue for many people but I didn't like it that way :)

This thread isn't supposed to be here, I'm going to tag @DashCamMan to move it to the Viofo sub-forum.

Still working great.
Adjusted EV to +2/3
Seems to be plenty bright
