I got my hands on a SooCoo C30 at a discount from the manufacturer in exchange for a review. There's a lot to like about this camera - but it's not without its problems. The deciding factor is whether or not you can live with the little issues that may be fixed in future firmware updates, but even as it is now the camera is (in my opinion) a very good deal at $80 USD domestic.

What I Like:
  • Great overall video quality
  • Good colour rendition in most situations and high amount of detail
  • Smooth frames in 30 and 60 FPS (no micro-stutter)
  • Day video is great, night video is OK
  • Acceptable still photo quality
  • Fairly straightforward to use
  • Buttons feel good to press
  • Functional gyro sensor
What I Don’t Like:
  • “20 MP” photos are upsized from 12 MP
  • Gyro isn’t as good as some competitors
  • Some white balance issues in direct sunlight with WDR on
  • Pulling the battery resets the date
  • Voice prompt feature hard to hear when inside waterproof case, and very audible in final movies
  • Mounts are cheap feeling
  • Instruction manual is poorly translated
