Footage form when South Wales Police stopped the individual responsible for a number of hit-and-runs in Cardiff on the 19th October 2012.

This clip contains dash cam footage of the police performing a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) Manoeuvre.

Sorry, but doing this on a van is just irresponsible. Because the stability of those vehicles is very limited, escpecially if they are loaded. Doing on a street with other traffic may not only be lethal for the suspect, but as well for incoming bypassers if the van would tumble into a rotation, probably rolling into the opposite lane.

Looked like the van driver was not going to stop no matter who he put in danger, so using a PIT manuever to stop him was more than justified. The police performed the manuever perfectly and stopped the van. The way they performed the manuaver pushed him into the off side of the road; no oncoming traffic and even if there were the van went to the outside. If it had overturned and the driver was injured still better then letting him go and injure other people/property.

When watching all the police progs on telly, my youngest asked me why police helecopters aren't fitted with small missiles.
Instead of chasing these morons around the country for hours on end, wasting time, money & resources, simply fire at the bandit car.
The missiles fired could simply contain a knockout gas & with today's tech, it wouldn't be hard to put a rocket through the roof.
Of course, if the crims decide to play it tough & maybe wear gasmasks, the next round could be live.
(one(or more) fewer criminals to worry about).
