Hey,
i’ve been searching for a suitable dashcam for quite some time now, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a solution that meet my technical requirements.
Since I regularly conduct sensitive business discussions in my vehicle, it is crucial for me that the recorded dashcam videos can be stored in a secure and protected form. Additionally, I see the need to protect my data from potential threats that may arise in authoritarian states, where dashcam footage could be confiscated or unlawfully accessed during security checks or other governmental interventions.
The best way to do this is encryption.
Are they any Dashcams that support video decryption? Unfortunately, I can't find anyone, regardless of the brand.
While researching i found the microSD card products from Swissbit.

However, these are incompatible with dashcams using current cameras due to their very low transfer rates.
I've seen that now Dashcams like Viofo A329 exists with external Drive support (SSD / PSSD).
As a workaround for the missing encryption feature i got following idea:
Use an portable Pin locked encrypted SSD as recordingstorage for the webcam.
For example things like that:

In my mind, you would only have to enter the pin once to unlock the ssd then connect it to the dashcam and setup an infinity recording.
As long as the ssd remains connected to the device and supplied with power, no new pin query should be necessary.
Of course it's not an ideal solution to have the camera recording 24/7 even when nobody is using the car, but the power consumption is so low that it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Did anyone try this before or got an better idea?
