Just curious about the approach to its design - why was an external GPS puck preferred, instead of incorporating it into the camera itself?

Less interference from dashcam and other nearby in-car (around the mirror) "bells and whistles", smaller outside footprint, better reception, more flexibility to mount either on the left or right side of the top windscreen.
