I came across the Drivewatch 380G yesterday while researching the Street Guardian SGZC12SG. It looks to be identical to the naked eye, but you never really know until you strip something down.

Does anybody have any first hand knowledge as to the difference between the SGZC12SG and the 380G?

The 380G is about $100 cheaper on Amazon and I know somebody is going to say it's just a knock-off. But if you claim it's just a knockoff, do you actually know what the difference is in the parts?

Here's the link for the Amazon listing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/B00XT3DO94

Yes, configuration, firmware most likely to be different, hence performance

Too many ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's not a knock off, it's the China market version, same as this
we've made hardware changes, firmware is very different, what's included, CPL, Memory card etc all adds up, yes ours is dearer but it's dearer for a reason, it's not the same product

that said though if you want a basic reliable cam it will do the job, Spytec is a trusted seller if you're looking to buy now

some internal mods to the case, lens mod, power supply, minor stuff that most people wouldn't notice but things we needed to do, we've been doing this model for quite some time so you learn what you need to tweak to get things right, the stuff people do notice is firmware related, our firmware is very different to the generic versions

Hi BigMike7801! There is very little difference in specs of the camera - we source from the same manufacturer. We're based Virginia - we ship from the USA and provide customer support from the USA in case of any issues. The internals of the camera are identical to the SGZC12SG, and the video quality is outstanding. Here's a quick sample video:

practically the same, changes would be most likely be in the firmware updates. ODM's rarely alter specs of a product unless a retailer orders in massive (usually north of 10,000) quantities.

As Rick already stated, we've made hardware and firmware changes. We are ordering many pallets of cameras at a time at this point. Our volume is more than enough to create a customized quality SGZC12SG V2 2016 edition product that meets and exceeds western market needs.

For example the SG9665GC might look like the generic A118/B40 but the hardware is different.
