Just ordered/Contributed thermal camera for $150.

Lets see if I can connect it to 2-channel dash cam. (during next summer)

I am considering this one. As a reversing camera use.

I think it would be quite cool to see road at dark. And those warm animals.

Wow, that is a very interesting camera. I know some home inspectors use them but I didn't realize prices have dropped to the $150 level. Would be interested to see how this performs in general and as a dash cam.

It is interesting and welcomed, but as far as i know right now this is just a promise, i hope it will come truth.
I think there is not much use for this camera as a dashcam, otherwise very much yes.
Next step should be FLIR camera, that would be something else.

I hope that it will be with this very chip:

It has very good values. Cheaper ones exist. All new thecnology.

Normal price for this thermal camera could be $350, or more.
The timing (for Mu Thermal Camera) is now rigth, cheap chips available.
Their timeschedule is a bit optimistic, but I do not have hurry.

I think, it would be very usefull.

If you are interested, do not wait to participiate, there is only ten days left!
I really see the poteal, and want to be one of the first one to have that thermal imager camera.

Videos you showed are far far away in the future, and definitely +1000$, they were more like advertising videos rather than available product, and it was flir, not ir in question.
It's a good dream though, but right now it would be more effective to buy something like this right now and connect that to dvr tomorrow.

No, they are not from future, merely from past , but surely prices are quite high today. Products are available at market now.Today it is reality.
They are coming to mass market, sooner or later.
But tomorrow < $400 ?, prices are quickly dropping. Promo videos are six (6) years old!
HUD, or Head-Up Display are reality in several new cars.[thumbnail]http://www.bmwblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011-bmw-5-series-night-vision-654x436.jpg[/thumbnail]
And you need your $300 phone/tablet to use it, but that is zero cost, when you have it already.
And lot of fun work :D

FLIR uses Thermal Imaging Camera and some available Computer Vision prosedures.
Have you heard of Computer Vision? Google car?
It is quite ready techonology, to try even yourself. And mobile phone can do all maths needed to do augmented reality.
All hardware is ready, just somebody most put all things together. (and make small piece of sofware  )

space shuttle 400,000 lines of code
Boeing 787 Dreamliner 6.5 million lines of software
premium-class car 100 million lines of software code

Modern car runs with software, literally.

Even New Renault Has Hud display.
This has some computer vision features:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Papago-P3-C ... 0999853726
-Lane Departure Warning Systems (LDWS) for Safe Driving
-Front Collision Warning System (FCWS)

Just one cheap thermal camera and voila!

Would anybody want to buy (for $50 ;) android application that makes that warning sign into screen?
I can promise real-time operation with Nexus 7-tablet.
My profile picture has been made with ComputerVision-prosedure called sketch, in real-time.
(processing time <40ms/30fps 1280x720)
