Through a one way street in the opposite direction

a long time ago, i was driving in downtown houston at night on a weekend, so it was fairly deserted. almost every street downtown is one-way. i hadn't been downtown very many times before that night, and i was just sight-seeing - checking out the skyscrapers on a rare cool evening with the top down on my miata.
i had driven about 3-4 blocks before i realized i hadn't seen any traffic signals or signs, and about the same time, someone someone else turned onto the street i was on (thankfully, several blocks away). they were going the right way. WHOOPS! i quickly turned into a parking lot so i could get turned around the right way.
at least in downtown houston, those one-way streets are like 5 lanes wide, and the speed limit is 20 mph so it's not like i was a huge hazard.
