I'm trying to find the ideal mounting position for my U1000 but the front camera system that does the lane keeping, etc on my 2018 Ford Edge is massive, so I'm running into a few issues, I either have to:

- bring the camera down from the top of the windshield by a few inches to avoid the lane assist camera module which expands out towards the top of the windshield but then I run into the issue of getting like 4-5 inches of the dash in the footage
- move the camera to the right so the camera doesn't capture part of the lane assist camera module, but then the footage is well off centre compared to the centre of the car
- install the camera to the top and relatively centre, which fixes both previous issues, but ends up with the camera capturing part of the lane assist module's plastic casing

Anyone have ideas on which would be best?

Welcome to DCT :)

Many if not most cam installs are a compromise, and it's worse with cars having sensor housings at the mirror. Just decide what will work best for you and go with it. Alternately another cam with a more suitable form-factor can often solve this but it may not have the features and performance you want.

Now more than ever, a cam's form-factor can often be a major consideration and there's no one solution that works for everyone.

Not sure what the sensor housing in the Ford Edge looks like but could you possibly mount it on the housing?

Thanks for the tip, don't think it'll be easy since the housing is quite big and the dashcam shoots at 150 degrees.

Thanks for the advice, I just noticed I completely missed that the sensor housing is significantly bigger on the passenger side than it is the driver's side, seems like it protrudes more there to house another sensor. I completely ignored the driver's side originally since my toll route transponder is mounted there and it hadn't crossed my mind to move it to the passenger side, so I think I may luck out by moving my transponder to the passenger side, and mounting the dashcam on the driver side. Kinda feel silly for not noticing it before.

I don’t know about the Ford Edge (Ford Territory in Australia), but in the case of my 2004 Highlander/Kluger, I mounted my U1000 directly below the rear vision mirror, and used a length of string down the centre of the windscreen to get the alignment right.
Have a look at the photo: I hope it helps.

could my u1000 be to close to the interior mirror sensors . hence not picking up speed cameras although picking up gps and forward collision notifications :unsure::unsure:

speed cameras work off a database, if GPS is working then it should work, providing the database is actually correct
