I have been unable to connect with WiFi on A229. Getting an error message "no internet connection." How can I reset the camera to be able to connect? I connect to 5G-Viofo...in my WiFi settings but it won't connect to my camera and
iPhone. My router is 5G.

No internet connection is normal after connecting to the phone to the camera as the camera doesn't have internet, the wifi only connects the camera and phone

Or are you trying to use wifi station mode to connect your camera to your router? If so then set the ssid to your router

I’m trying to set up the app on my iPhone to link with the camera. Following the instructions, I get an error message reading β€œno internet connection.” When I press the WiFi button on the camera, it tells me to go to WiFi settings and select the camera (5G VIOFO…) so it’s reading my camera but it won’t connect to be able to use the app.

What iOS is your phone on? Try turning off Cellular on the iPhone and see what happens. The no internet is a standard response; make sure you are entering the default password. Just from the phone to the dash cam you do not need station mode set up. If you did, then zero out the station mode. If your phone only does 2.4g, then use the screen menu and buttons to set the WiFi to 2.4 g.

My Samsung Android takes me to settings, but after connecting to the camera WiFi I need to close the app and reopen it and then the connect button works.

Some people say put turn off Bluetooth because that connects your phone to the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Others say put it in Airplane mode then turn on WiFi. Maybe some phones avoid WiFi that has no internet on it unless you tell it you don't want it.

That corrected the issue, however, I have to turn it back on to get cell service.

Well, it is a start. πŸ™‚ Are you by chance using an iPhone 12? I have seen several other people have this issue with an iPhone 12, as far as I know they never resolved the issue. I have wondered if having Location Services set to use WiFi, or any kind of backup default to WiFi if that is the issue. It can be difficult to get people to dig deeper as no one really wants to hose up their settings. I always recommend folks backup to the iCloud before doing anything.

It is a definite PITA needing to disable Cellular to make the app work. I honestly do not think it is an issue with the app, but more of an issue with the cell phone. I have no trouble with the app on an iPhone 15+ and iOS 17, an iPad Pro M4 on iPadOS 17, or an iPhone 7+ on iOS 15. I expect there are issues with other apps and their settings on some phones that users overlook.

Did you test this outside of your car using a power bank? Sometimes the cars BT or WiFi will cause issues.

I have an iPhone 13 with the latest IOS

Ed ... I don't know what will fix the issue in a fashion so you can leave the cellular on; at least it is not a 12. πŸ™‚ You can look for any app that is using the WiFi, or system services, disable background updates and backups via WiFi; turn off house router and test, etc. Past that I really am not sure how to resolve this issue.

If you Google "iphone 13 wifi features that can interfere with dashcams" , there will be a host of possible solutions from the internet.

It is normal that No internet is shown after connection since the camera wifi is not real LTE. Please refer to this blog if you have issue in using the app: https://www.viofo.com/blogs/viofo-c...fo-app-and-what-to-do-if-the-connection-fails
