Use of included string

In the SG I have, there was a little white twine or string, listed as being for removing the VHB tape. How is that supposed to be done? I've tried using it to "saw" through the stuff, but it doesn't seem to bite.

You can use it to floss between a bit but the real tool you want to use is the included plastic trim tool crowbar. Shove it in a corner and slowly twist until it pops up
