Is it possible to connect to an Android phone as a webcam, without using a shorted cable?
webcam mode for PC works when there is no memory card in the camera, not sure if any equivalent is possible for Android, the built in camera on the phone would be wanting to perform this function, maybe you just want live view for aiming the camera, not actually recording?
haven't seen it work with the type of cable you bought, normally use this type https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161835245247 for the phone end and connect the supplied USB lead into it and then to the camera
I have been using this for quite awhile with no issues https://www.amazon.com/gp/B00B4GGW5QThanks for the info. I will buy one of those cables, and try it out.
That looks similar to the one Joklin recommended. I just ordered one. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thank you for your help!I have been using this for quite awhile with no issues https://www.amazon.com/gp/B00B4GGW5Q
As @jokiin pointed out, use the supplied power cord that came with the camera and it will work fine. That looks similar to the one Joklin recommended. I just ordered one. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thank you for your help!

I was experiencing the exact same problem as you until I stumbled over the solution. New to this technology for sureI admire your optimism. You must be new around here, right?
It seems as though information about "How to connect your Mobius Action Cam HD to your Android/iPhone" should be easier to find than it really is, especially as there seem to be many ways of doing it wrong.
