This Mini Q9 dashcam was sent for review.
Thank you @Joy from Skyhigh-Global.
It's available for purchase at https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/Arpe...296P-Parking-Mode-GPS-Motion/32849434251.html

Company Skyhigh-global (Skyhigh Electronics) has released for sale dashcam with an unusual shape of the case (review @Sunny - Mini Q9 1296p Dashcam with GPS and separate lens housing, review @Jeremy Wong - Mini Q9). The device has an even more unusual kit of wires for power supply, which provides the ability to connect power to the car in three ways.

This universal Hardwire kit is included in the kit for Mini Q9 and it is not necessary to order something separately.
The basis of this kit is the module-power adapter 12V-5V with the GPS module in one casing.

The 12 V power supply to the module via the wire is 2.4 meters in length, the other wire is from the module to the dash mounting (5-volt power is transmitted to it, the control signal for activating the parking mode and the signal from the GPS module) is 1 meter in length

Through the connector on the input cable it is possible to connect power from three different places in the car:
1. Connector OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics)

2. Three-wire kit for connection to the fuse box and
3. Plug cigarette lighter

The connection via the OBD-II connector is not yet the most common, as is the connection via the cigarette lighter, but some manufacturers are already releasing Hardwire kit with such a connector.

Every car made since 1996 (from 2001 in Europe) has an onboard diagnostic port (OBD), usually located somewhere underneath the steering wheel. Mechanics have special devices they can plug into these ports to read all kinds of information about a car, but you can take advantage of them too.

For dash power supply, only the pins are used, which are intended to power the diagnostic devices that can be connected to the OBD-II connector and do not use pins through which the signals of the diagnostic protocols are transmitted

You can determine the location of the OBD connector using the instruction manual of your car, or find information on the network, for example here: OBD2 connector location

To conduct the test and correctly measure the switching parameters of the power module, I had to solder two diode (control indicator) on the output from the power module - into the 5 volt supply circuit and the ACC (through which the signal that controls the parking mode is fed)
control indicators +5V $ ACC.jpg

The control diodes-indicators were soldered to the output circuits - power supply 5 volts (blue) and the chain of ACC (accessories, red), through it comes the signal that controls the Parking Mode.
Given the delays in switching on / off the dashcam, this was the only way that allowed to determine the logic of the module operation and voltage thresholds that change the output signals from the module and change the modes of operation of Mini Q9.

The voltage at the input to the module was changed in steps of 0.1 V (from 11.0 V to 14.0 V and back down) and held paused by each step for 1.5 -2 min

The main test was performed using an OBDII-connector. Power from this connector is supplied to the module only by two wires - constant connected "plus" from the battery and ground.

The results of the tests of the operation of the dash camera Mini Q9 module ("BMW power changer", as it is called by the Skyhigh Global) with the power connection via the OBD-II plug in the "home laboratory" are surprising - a very good engineering solution for automatically changing the modes of operation of the dashcam:

Standart recording mode: recording video in the standard dashcam mode begins when the voltage in the circuit is higher than 13.67 V, this occurs when the car engine is started (the standard values for the running engine are 13.8-14.5V). The mode is switched on after 5 seconds after reaching the required voltage level. From this time, the control signal in the ACC circuit is ON.

Parking Mode function: the mode automatically turns on when the engine stops and the voltage drops below 12.6 V. At this time, the control signal in the Mini Q9 circuit is switched OFF.

Low Battery Discharge Prevention: the module completely turns off the power to the Mini Q9 when the voltage in the circuit drops to 11.42 V. This occurs 30 seconds after reaching the lower level of the trip threshold (it is possible that the lower threshold level should be raised to 11.7-11.8 V, or additional measurements should be made to clarify this value).

to be continued...

Parking Guard Function
Set the parking guard function. Go to “camera menu“>parking mode.
There are 3 options: off/ Time lapse/ Normal.

A: OFF
Choose OFF, when car engine is stopped, there will be ‘ACC OFF’ words on the camera screen , the camera will record 1 minute video and then turn off, it will not record anything even unexpected shocks or collision happen.

B: Time Lapse
Choose Time Lapse, when car engine is stopped, there will be ’ACC OFF’ words on the camera screen, the camera will record 1 minute normal fps video, then will start loop recording in low FPS status (1 fps/second video) when parking.

C: Normal
Choose Normal, when car engine is stopped, there will be ‘ACC OFF’ words on the camera screen, the camera will record 1 minute video and then turn off. it will start 1 minute video record when unexpected shocks or collision happen, then turn off again.

Note: Maybe there is a few seconds delay appear ‘ACC OFF’ words on the camera screen, it depends on the voltage-drop between start the engine and close the engine.

Thank you so much for the review @Leonauto

Thank you, Leonauto .
Yes, this mini Q9 dash cam has Low voltage protect when use the parking mode function, about 11.5V-11.7V.
