Purchasing a Corvette is out of my ball park, but what caught my attention is in the new 2015 Corvette there is a feature called Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder. Part of the system will allow the driver to record video and audio. The driver will be able to view the video instantly on the Corvette’s eight-inch color touchscreen when the car is parked, or downloaded to a computer. The system features a dedicated SD-card slot in the glove box for recording and transferring video and vehicle data. An 8-gigabyte card can record approximately 200 minutes of driving time. Valet Mode with the Performance Data Recorder will be available on all 2015 Corvette models.

The screen shot looks cool

Hopefully GM will start installing this system in their lower priced family size vehicles.

Nice system. It already has been introduced and discussed on forum about half year ago.
Majority of today dashcams ( even the cheapest one 40$) have so called "valet mode" to view video on 8" in-car headunit with AUX input.
Unfort video res on Corvette is only 720p. For 40$ can get g1w series with better video quality than Corvette.
I guess its going to take another 1-2 years before we can see Corvette with 1080p. Dashcam "Innovations" in dedicated ( built-in ) indestry move slow and about 2y behind standard common dashcams performance.

Interestingly, this can be considered illegal in some states.

The memo tells the dealers to tell customers that they should inform people the car will record them, and get their consent before turning on “Valet Mode.” “It is very important that you explain this to each customer at the time of delivery,” says the memo. Otherwise, they could commit a crime. Via Ars Technica:

“In California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington, all parties involved in the recording must either consent to a recording or at least be aware that the recording is happening, depending on the state. So if a Corvette owner turns on Valet Mode in California and turns the car over to the unknowing attendant, that Corvette owner could be committing a felony.”

Well than all dash cams which record audio in those states listed can be considered illegal.
