I got my hands on the new LT01 module from Vantrue.
This will be a quick introduction to it.

Here are some pictures of it.

What is the LT01?
The LT01 LTE module allows users to connect certain Vantrue dashcams for remote functions.
To power the LT01, the plug that would normally go into the camera, is plugged into the LT01, and the cable from it goes into the dashcam.
With this, the LT01 and dashcam both shutdown when the voltage is too low and activate once the ignition is back on.

According to the Vantrue Connected App, the currently supported devices are:
  • E360
  • E1 Pro
  • N2X
  • N4 Pro S (new model to be released?)
  • N5 S (new model to be released?)
  • S1 Pro
I tried to activate it with my N4 Pro. It did not work.

What can it do?

As seen above, it allows users to:
  • Create an electronic fence:

  • Access messages sent in case of events
  • Locate the vehicle on the map and navigate to it
  • see data usage statistics
  • change LT01 settings
  • Access the local and cloud folder
The LT01 can enable a hotspot to allow other devices an internet connection.
2,4Ghz and 5Ghz are available as a setting.
The name and password of the hotspot can be changed.

The most important feature however is the remote access to the dashcam.
The app allows users to:
  • Start and Stop the recording
  • LTE Screen recording (records what the dashcam is seeing and allows users to save it)
  • Switch camera view
  • Intercom
  • Disable/Enable Audio recording on the camera
  • Playback recorded videos that are saved on the SD card
  • Change any camera settings (resolution, parking mode, etc.)

(Purposely no image because the E360 is not yet installed in my car)

The latency is about 3-4 seconds. The audio and video quality are good.


Activation:
To activate the LT01 you require an active SIM card and a Vantrue dashcam from the supported devices.

The LT01 requires the micro SIM format. The tool to eject the SIM card tray is included. I disabled my SIM PIN for use in the LT01.

After plugging everything in and turning it on, you need to select your model and follow the steps on the screen.
If everything is connected right, this should be done within a few minutes. The app makes this very easy.

Once connected you will be able to access all the functions I listed.
The LT01 manual is not yet officially listed on the Vantrue website. A link can be found with the QR code in the box or with a simple search on the internet. šŸ˜‰

I will provide more information once the E360 is installed in my car together with the LT01.

@Jeff_Vantrue I assume the supported cameras use the USB-C cable for data connection to the LT01, rather than a local Bluetooth or WiFi link?

@Julian23 How long is the cable between the LT01 and the camera?
 
Look similar, well in general terms to the 70mai 4G hardwire kit.

In that regard i have been thinking.

Would it be a advantage if the GPS antenna part was in the 4G kit, CUZ that way if a thief disable the dashcam by yanking wires, you would still be able to track the car location just with the 4G / GPS part.

I do have the 4G kit from 70mai in the L lower cornor of the windscreen, visible, but i have been thinking if it was better if i draped my DIY dashmat over the 4G kit so it was not visible.

Interesting idea.

I'm guessing the the 4g module is dumb and needs to talk to the dashcam to reply to queries to its location etc.

I had the 4g module sitting on the centre console lol so I reckon if they know what it is would probable take it too.

4g should be able to be located in a hidden spot. I guess again it would depend on the antenna and transmit/receive power of the unit.
 
You could probably put a #2 GPS in the 4G modem, but it would of course make things more expensive.

Relocating GPS from mount / build in location, would be a major change, but maybe something to consider for Brands going forward.

Unsure if you would be able to track 4G modem as is, or that is possible but not for your every day dashcam addict, but evil gooberments would gladly have this grip on peoples balls too.
I think here we have that part outsourced to our American " friends "
 
You could probably put a #2 GPS in the 4G modem, but it would of course make things more expensive.
Since every Vantrue camera already has GPS, this would be rarely used, cause unnecessary power draw and with this more cost for nearly no use.

I can track my car with the app from the manufacturer. If you want to shut that down you would have to disconnect the battery from the car.

Power draw would be a issue i assume, but i suppose you could make a #2 GPS only be active if the system are abruptly disconnected, and so in this way not be a issue during ordinary parking guard operation.

Fortunately criminals are not that smart.
No tracking of a stupid little Suzuki car, well unless you plant a tracker on it, car theft is not really a big worry of mine given the car i drive.
 
I just did a power consumption test with the LT01.
The E360 was powered by the LT01 connected to the Voltage Display Hardwire Kit. The HW kit was powered with a power supply set to 12.4V.

The first test I did was the idle power consumption of just the LT01. (No E360 connected)
This was surprisingly low with just 0,15W on average.

The next test was with the LT01 and the E360.
The combined power draw is about 4,45W on average.

To calculate the power draw of the LT01 when connected to the E360, I measured once again. This time only the E360.
The E360 without the LT01 or rear camera requires about 3,61W on average.

Simply subtracting the values gives the LT01 a consumption of 0,84W.
This will decrease the time of parking surveillance with the advantage of being able to remotely check the dashcam.
 
It’s been a while since I last shared information about the LT01.
I’ve been running the LT01 with the E360 for about a month now.
At one point, I received an event notification in parking mode, which, fortunately, was a false alert. This confirms that the notification system is working as expected.

Here’s a video showing how the Vantrue app looks when connecting to the E360 with the LT01.
You can see that the loading circle is still present even though the video is already playing in the background (check the timestamp for reference).


In the following video, I go through all the different viewing options available. The Vantrue App offers a wide variety of perspectives that can be adjusted to fit different needs.
You can zoom in, pan around, and switch between views to get a better look at specific areas.
This flexibility makes it easy to find the best angle depending on the situation.
With these options, you can essentially see everything happening around the car, ensuring full coverage from all angles.

Unfortunately there are no official news on it yet. If just the main unit is updated and the rest stays the same it is likely to fit. But this can't be guaranteed.
We will have to wait until it gets released.

I am afraid that the rear cable of N5 won't be compatible with the new dash cam
 
When setting up the LT01 with any compatible camera, it will now ask you to select your SIM card.
Either a Vantrue SIM card or any other.

What about the N4 Pro S and the S1 Pro Max ?
Also, do you plan to release in a near future a E2 Pro ? Because that'd be a trully great cam, like a E1 Pro with rear cam support...
