Dash Cam
Several brands :)
I was recently sent Vantrue’s new Nexus 4 Pro S (N4 Pro S) triple-channel dashcam to check out.

Specs:
  • 3-channel HDR Clear Recording
  • Triple STARVIS 2 Sensor
  • Exclusive PlatePix™ Technology
  • Compatible with LTE Module (LT01)
  • IP67 Water-resistance for the rear camera
  • 5GHz WiFi
  • Smart Voice Control
  • 24/7 Parking Mode
  • Built-in Dual-Sys. GPS Logger
Recording Resolutions:
  • Front camera: 3840x2160P 30fps
  • Cabin Camera: 1920x1080P 30fps (with Automatic IR LED that can be disabled in the menu)
  • Rear Camera: 2592x1440PP 30fps

Given these specs, I expect the N4 Pro S to be a nice upgrade over the N4 Pro that has been around for some time and had issues with the rear camera.
The N4 Pro S supports microSD cards up to 1 TB and is also compatible with Vantrue’s optional LTE module, LT01, for cloud features (live view, alerts, etc.).
Like other Vantrue cams, the Nexus 4 Pro S uses a supercapacitor (not a battery), so it can safely survive heat and provides a few seconds of runtime after power is cut. The N4 Pro has been very reliable with heat.

Unboxing

The Nexus 4 Pro S packaging is similar to the packaging we saw in the last few years. We see much cardboard instead of plastic. Everything inside, the cameras, cables, and mounts are snugly held in place. The box includes the main dashcam unit (with built-in interior camera), a waterproof rear camera module, the power supply, mounting brackets with 3M adhesive pads, and quick-start guides.

Sticky mount vs the optional suction cup mount:
The suction cup mount will use slightly less space than the sticky pad and holds on very reliable.

And some more:

As with all Vantrue cameras from the past few years( except for the E360), the N4 Pro S will support the optional CPL.
In my opinion it is one of the best and easiest CPL filters to attach and align.
Keep in mind to remove both sides of the protective film.

Overall, my first impressions of the Nexus 4 Pro S are positive: decent video specs, sturdy build, and thoughtful features (smart voice, LTE-ready, buffered parking, etc.). I’ll be testing it further soon, but from the unboxing to initial setup, it seems to be a nice mid-range 3-channel unit. The image quality also seems good. More in the next post.

Here are some plate capture screenshots:

From these screenshots, it looks very similar to the performance of the E1 Pro or S1 Pro Max.
Night time should be more or less the same as the two other cameras.

I haven’t played with the suction cup mount. That looks like an interesting alternative to the sticky mount. It looks lie it places the front lens closer to the windshield, potentially reducing window glare on a sunny day, even with the polarizer installed.

I’m assuming those images are zoom/crops? I’m not seeing any dash or hood in them…

Yes exactly, even with the suction cup, the whole thing is very compact. I like it.

You are correct.
These are crops to show the plate capture as good as possible.

All the plates can be identified with the one posted frame. Very good performance from the N4 Pro S!

Greetings.
Do you know if the suction cup mount is compatible with the LTE module? I would be interested for N4ProS.
Thanks.

I don't have the LTE module, but my understanding is that the power goes into the LTE module, then to the USB power inlet on the GPS/Mount for the camera. I see no reason why the suction cup mount would function differently than the dedicated Nexus-series GPS/window sticky mount. They should all function quite well together.

Thanks.
Do you want to mount both the LTE module and the N4 Pro S on suction cups, so you can move both of them between vehicles?

Not necessarily but it's a good idea. I would buy the mount because it offers more flexibility in camera placement and it's not very expensive. I tried to order it from Vantrue but they don't have the delivery option in Romania and Amazon.de doesn't have the 8-pin model for the N4ProS.

I have some more plate capture.

The N4 Pro S has been performing fine.
A thing to complain about is the still very sensitive G sensor if compared to the competition.
Other than that there is not much to criticize. The IMX678 does a great job as we are used to.
The interior camera could maybe have a bit wider FOV to capture more action. Especially since the front unit can't be aimed other than turning the entire unit.

Very easy answer to this question.
The N4 Pro S has 3 channel instead of just one.

It was expected that the image quality from the same image sensor would be nearly identical.

ok 3pcs e1pro price is near 1pcs n4pro s?

Would still pick the N4 Pro S.
No need for 3 different power supplies or 3 different SD cards.
Everything is in one unit.
And the rear camera is smaller and less visible when mounted on the rear glass.
