@harsh , thanks for the joint test, but with CPL, did not disclose the full picture of the real definition optics,
and especially in the evening / night

The A119S is much sharper and much clearer But how can that be
1. Frame rate : 60.000 FPS / 20.3 Mb/s vs 30.000 FPS / 14.7 Mb/s
2. different polarizing filters
3. I see blurry the red stop-lamps of the car, the lens is not very clean

@harsh , thanks for the joint test, but with CPL, did not disclose the full picture of the real definition optics,
and especially in the evening / night

With most users (me included) leaving the CPL filter attached all the time, comparing them with their respective CPL's felt like a better one to start with.

I'll add videos without a CPL within a few days.

The lens and windshield were both clean, it's the smog/haze in the air making it look like that, all street lights and car stop-lamps were flaring the same when observed by sticking my head out a bit from the driver's side window.

I don't have the new single glass filter from SG.

Your opinion from the above 2 which has better hardware and which one did you like better with the above comparisons.

Your opinion from the above 2 which has better hardware and which one did you like better with the above comparisons.
first, distant impression - a worthy model.
need 6-12 months of use, this will display information about the reliability of the device, the manufacturer support, etc.
I hope the manufacturer will always there and ready online to answer users ' questions

Thanks for speedy reply

Your test have a problem. Your aiming in two camera is not the same. Result of it is: the bright of two image in dark area totaly diffirent.
After quick look in youtube, my conclusion is: 50:50 although bitrate of A119S is much higher than SG. When catching moving object, image of A119S is sharper than SG.

Or maybe focus mode on SG is central, so it focus more on sky. I explain in this pic.

in static scene, it's hard to tell: which one is sharper (in my eyes)
and SG have a larger FOV, which mean everthing in SG will small and less sharp than A119.
Everthing in larger FOV will seems smaller and therefor hard to see than less FOV. But larger FOV has more object than less FOV. This matter was disscussed many time on board.
example:
20173ccac7f6-d991-4d56-8ee2-3d397b9e5c4f.png

Reading license plate very easy in this pic.
2017bf9db133-8e8e-4ad5-8886-b54fa65ac0d2.png

harder than doing so in this pic,

I'm using centred metering with the GC, don't know what's been implemented by VIOFO as there's no option for a user selectable metering on V. 1.0 of their firmware.

Mounting of the camera and aiming of the lens was corrected before the videos were recorded. Both are on the 2nd last click of the adjustable lens and the dashboard + bonnet coverage looks identical.

If you have any pointers on mounting and angling it better, please do elaborate, I'll redo it before comparing them without the CPL.

You can aim them so they can share the same horizon. And i think Viofo using average AE, you can use the same mode with GC.

The A119S has a wider dynamic range than the SG. Thus in the dark areas the A119 is a bit brighter, whilst in the light areas the A119S is darker. The result is that the SG appears to have more contrast, making some details like number plates easier to read. However the A119S actually preserves more detail with less clipping of the shadows and highlights (where detail is lost to complete black or white). Which is better is down to individual preference.

The increased blur on the SG is due to using a longer exposure time. The more sensitive IMX291 and/or use of higher ISO in the A119S results in a shorter exposure and thus less motion blur. I can't remember if the A119S has a wider aperture lens than the SG.

they use the same sensor, so they have the same wide dynamic range.

I think it's centre from my assessment but that's again speculation. I've tagged Viofo with this question in a different thread, will wait for them to confirm.

They don't. You seem to be confused about the specifications.

thanks for reminding me about the specs. :) I was wrong about the specs.
But if two image has diffirent wide dynamic range means: the darker area is brigher and the light area is not overexpose. And in this video, i dont see that.
With EV setting, you can change the brighness of image just like when you use VLC software:
So, if the darker area is brigher, and the light area is nomal. When you use VLC player to increase contract, the light area will not be overexpose. And when that, i shall call A119S or any dashcam have better wide dynamic range.

A better comparison would be against the 2017 SG9665GC V3 (with updated Lens) but you only have a V2 there obviously.
