Ok. Today i have planed to instal the 119sv2 in my car. i have buy it from banggood.
the cam came to me 4 days ago.

today i was sitting in the tv room and watched tv.

then i hear a loud "POP" sound from my left side. i was looking what it could be.

the a119sv2 in the original box was on a board on my wall.

so i opened the box and it smells like electrical burning.

the camera was smelling to, so i opened the cam because i was afraid of fire.
inside i see a brown liquid and one of the supercaps was open. i have clean it up with some qtipps and toiletpaper.

i have never used the camera, even all the 3m stickers are untouched.

today i have contacted banggood to send me a new camera or give my money back.

do somebody see something before on an absolutely unused camera?

Have you connected it to a power source?

Normally super capacitors only go pop if they get charged to a too high voltage...

no, the camera was inside the box.
now it is on top of the box,

Very strange, not sure how that is possible without a source of power, not heard of it happening before without power. Maybe the box was sitting in the sun?

Anyway, it shouldn't do that, and I can see that the super capacitor has burst it's safety cap.
Hopefully Bangood will replace it, if not then I'm sure @viofo will sort it...

when banggood will not replace or give no money back, i will contact paypal.
im think there is a buyer protection

what does this mean: "viofo will sort it"
(my english is not so good)

ok. i have send some pictures and description to banggood.

now they want a video where they want to hear the pop sound, because they dont see any damage.

i think they will not see the popped capacitor. today i must ask paypal what to do.

do somebody know where i can buy the original hycap 2.7v 3.3f from europe/germany ?

or maybe @viofo itself can help me please ?

Any 2.7v 3.3f supercap should work, or a higher capacity, 5F is easy to find if it will fit. However they don't normally pop for no reason, so if you replace it then the new one may pop as well. Maybe there is a hole in the plastic coat of either supercapacitor and the supercapacitor aluminium case has touched some metal?

If you replace the supercapacitor with a different value, eg 5F, you will need to replace both capacitors.

Viofo support should help, they may tell Bangood to replace it for you.

thank you.
3.3 is very hard to find here.

i will look for some 5's

Exploded and burned capacitor has the name Cap-Hy on it.
On Viofo’s web site the green capacitor has the name Nano Force E3A on it..
What capacitor is Viofo installing in the newest A119S?

They use Hy-Cap made by Vinatech in Korea.
Part nr. is VEC2R7335QG but there is no way to get those from them.

Mine is the newest batch of A119S V2

Nobody in my area want to repair it, even Viofo dont answer to my question.

Banggood offer me a 40€ refund. i can not accept it.
have contacted paypal, will see what will happen...

I wouldn’t want that in my car.
I would be very concerned my roof lining and windshield molding might catch fire.
I would suggest Viofo do more thorough testing and go for a quality capacitor and not the cheapest.

i will not use this camera in my car. too much afraid of fire.
because of this fire risk the camera for now is not even in my house.

do somebody know where to get some replacement parts?
not only supercaps, but full replacement parts like lenses, flex cables, displays and so similar stuff ?

Was your dash on a wooden board or a circuit board when it popped?
I worked on microfilm and printing equipment for 14 years.
I only had 1 capacitor blow its top in all that time so it is unusual.

Something strange going on here!

it was exactly here, about 1m from my left side.
the camera was in the original box in that moment.
exactly how it was shipped by banggood, i have never use it before.
even the car connector and all the other stuff are original packed and never used.
