A149 Pro Duo - Power Consumption Tests

My tests were performed with a pre-production unit and an early firmware version.

Does it seem odd that it uses the IMX662 2MP for the rear camera and not IMX675 5MP?
The IMX662 specs look more suitable for a low light/interior cabin camera.

This looks like a nice improvement / replacement for the original A129 Pro Duo (2019).
So far I'm not liking;
a.) 1080p Rear Camera
b.) Type-C Rear Camera Cable
I would have preferred;
a.) 2K (IMX675) Rear Camera
b.) MMCX Coax Rear Camera Cable
I'm thinking these 2 choices are to keep MSRP "budget friendly", so I'm OK with that.

FastBoot sounds exciting, can't wait to test that.
Wow, that new GPS Mount looks THICK.

1.) Why do we have a new HK6-A Hardwire Cable?
2.) What the difference between HK6, and HK6-A?
3.) When is the official release date for Amazon USA?

a.) 1080p Rear Camera
My guess is that if a 2K rear camera was offered, it would directly compete with the A229 series.

b.) Type-C Rear Camera Cable
I'm also not a fan of thick USB-C cables.

Wow, that new GPS Mount looks THICK.
The GPS mount is fixed [non-removable]. There's a thin plastic mounting plate for the windshield that the fixed GPS mount attaches to.

1.) Why do we have a new HK6-A Hardwire Cable?
I was not aware of a "-A" version until it was mentioned in the VIOFO listing page. The A149 Pro user manual still lists the HK6 and the HK4 as an optional accessory.

2.) What the difference between HK6, and HK6-A?
There's also a HK6-F version [listed on T330/T340 pages]. The HK6-A has a straight USB-C connector for the camera connection end. The HK6-F has a 90-degree USB-C connector for the camera connection end. I'm not sure if there's any addition difference beyond the connector type.

3.) When is the official release date for Amazon USA?
I have no idea of the release date on Amazon US.

Correct.
I'm also not a fan of thick USB-C cables.
It's not so much the thickness that bothers me.
It's the lack of modularity.
How many times have we seen a customer ask; "Is this "USB Type-C" from Amazon going to work, because I need a longer / shorter one?"
Then we go down the rabbit hole of of proprietary "PINS" in a Type-C Cable, (what a nightmare).
MMCX Coax is just a simple thing of beauty.
But I understand it has a significant cost increase.

Well, well, well, I've been asking for truly "built-in" GPS modules since A129 Pro (2019).
I guess we finally got it, (yes I know T130 had it) 🤣

Thanks for all the answers.

I added my power consumption test results to post #2 of this thread.

what different the front camera of 119mpro and 149produo

Not much. They both use the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 image sensor. The A119M Pro creates 61.4 Mbps front video footage [bitrate = high]. The A149 Pro Duo front creates 58.1 Mbps front video footage [bitrate = maximum]. The A149 Pro creates 1080p rear video footage at 15.6 Mbps. Both front lenses have a F1.8 aperture and a FOV of 140°.

The A149 Pro does have the advanced parking modes [like the A329S series]. The A119M Pro was rumored to get those advanced parking modes at some point with a firmware update, but that has not occurred yet.

Do we have information on what particular Novatek chipset is in this camera?. Seems to be the new trend with these cameras and Vantrue, having fast startups.

Is it only the A149 Pro that has this fast boot option? (i.e. it's not mentioned for the T330/340)

Is there a downside to using it, such as standby power consumption?

I would wonder if the bitrate is dropped with the fastboot videos. That is what is happening with a competitors product I am testing at the moment that also has fast boot.

This feature is present only in the A149 Pro, not the T330/T340. The "fast boot" is from a powered off state only, not part of the LPID parking mode functionality. LPID parking mode response to an impact is about 1.5 seconds.

With the release of the A149 Pro, T330, and T340 dash camera models, VIOFO stated that the A149 Pro should use the HK6-A hardwire and the T330/T340 models should use the HK6-F hardwire kit.

All three dash camera models can be powered by the older HK4 hardwire kit, the HK6, or the two new HK6 variants [HK6-A, HK6-F].

You can still use a HK4 hardwire kit to power the dash camera, but you'll miss out on the HK6 added features. When you use a HK4 hardwire kit, you miss out on the "Cut-Off Voltage" battery protection feature and the ability to display the vehicle's voltage level in the video's "Stamp" [status line]. That's true for all models that include those new features [A329S series, A119M Pro, A149 Pro, T330, T340].

The only difference between the HK6, HK6-A, and HK6-F hardwire kits is the USB-C connector that plugs into the dash camera.

I outline the differences in this other thread.

Here are three rear camera frame grabs from a VIOFO A149 Pro FHD rear, a VIOFO T330 QHD rear, and a VUEROiD S1-4K QHD rear. All three have HDR enabled for the rear camera.
