I hope not, but I don't know yet as my new car is only 6 days old!

I am hoping to fit at least the front cam today & the rear one in a day or two - time & weather allowing.

I noticed a couple of users with problems with the 256gb Endurance Pro so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Hope you get yours sorted.
 
Besides some of the things mentioned already, I'd like to see voice notifications available strictly for errors like memory card corrupted or not inserted while simultaneously having a silent startup/shutdown.

I'd also like to see the front and rear video files perfectly synced up, both when they start recording as well as the timestamps in the filenames.

Otherwise I don't have a ton of complaints about the A229. It seems pretty well designed. šŸ™‚
 
Does the A229 work as a WIFI client or as a server? In other words can you add it to your home WIFI network or maybe you have to connect to its short range WIFI network as with the A 129?

No, it does not have this functionality in the current FW (1.0_0801). The A139 has this option added in one of the latest FW releases, so maybe VIOFO will add this to the A229 too. At this moment it only supports the Direct Wifi (connect to the Viofo wifi SSID of the camera).
 
I got my A229 a couple of weeks ago from BlackBoxMyCar and just installed a Cellink Neo today also from BlackBoxMyCar and using the auto event detection and it's working great. I set the motion sensor to lowest and g-sensor to highest. The sensor only detects when the motion is closer to the car but still not good at busy area. I just wish the cam will support much larger sd cards or in the future model if possible add an extra sd card slot to separate the driving file to parking mode file to lessen how often you have to check or review the footages...cheers...

Here's a post from another thread. I'm still on the older firmware (V1.0_). Apparently, the newer version has it in the menu.

I have the latest firmware.
LEDs can:
1. Turn everything on.
2. Turn everything off.
3. Leave the power LED on.
There is no mention of parking anywhere and the LEDs do not turn off automatically in the parking lot.

In T130, when switching to parking mode, the LEDs turn off automatically and there is such an item in the menu.

That's what I said, however, I thought he was referring to the IR lights because I was confusing this thread with a A139 pro thread. My mistake.
 
I would like to see a button to quickly turn parking mode on or off without having to stop recording and toggle through the menu. I generally don't need parking mode on while parked at home, and even though I have 50+/- hours with my two Cellink batteries, there are periods when I don't drive for 3 days. It would be nice to quickly toggle it on when I'm out and about.
 
Why don't shut down the whole camera with long press of the left button? That's what I do at my work parking space.

If parking mode comes on, you can manually shut it off by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds.
I prefer the current implementation in that if it always comes on automatically, I shut it off manually when I don't need it by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds rather than a manual on/off switch.

The risk with a "manual" switch is that you may forget to manually turn it on at a location where you actually need it and then something unfortunate happens to your car.
Again, for me it is always better that it comes on by default after I turn off my car, and before I get out of my car I will both hear a noise and see the screen indicating to me that parking mode being activated. If at that point (ex: personal garage to house, drive way to house, etc...), I determine that I do not actually need it then I manually shutoff the dashcam by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds.

Oh yes, I would like to have that function, too. A quick push of the Wifi button would do the trick.

I would appreciate having the choice. Right now I have to turn it off 9 out of 10 times. And only the 10th time it's making sense to me.

Being able to teach the dash cam 1 or 2 GPS coordinates where parking mode is not needed, would be awesome as well ;-)
 
Few things that are desperately needed in 2023 from Viofo in general, but some can be done to A229 or A229 pro.

1. A decent low power parking mode like we see on the U1000.
Some people have the car parked for many days, and spending upwards of 400$ on battery packs, is just silly if you don't need to capture everything. I just cant believe most manufacturers do not have this low power mode. Power consumption of these cameras is getting huge.

2. Remote view and notifications (via internal or external LTE).
We don't really need cloud video backups, but we do need to be able to view a live video from the car when checking something.
Parking mode would be awesome if you would also get a notification for events.
You should be able to get the notification, click on it and get a live view from the cam.

3. Get that screen off the cameras. It's just useless 95% of its life. You could use that space for better cooling solutions.
