Viofo A229 Duo received

I hear you Germans have OK temperatures now, and it will get even hotter next week.
If you dont like it, feel free to pass the heat north to us Danes.
My friends nephew live and work in Germany, he is getting married this weekend.

I heard nothing off new firmware, but it is my plan to get memory card in car soon, and look for things like missing / double frames.
 
The last 3 days were + 27-28 degrees Celsius. On Saturday they promise up to +35😴

I didn't look through all the entries, only selectively. The biggest came across 3 double frames in 1 minute of recording.
 
Just looked at some footage from today, and i do have some dual frames now and then, but i dont see any missing frames / sudden larger jumps of things in motion

But playback frame by frame, or watching in slow motion and it is easy to spot a repeat frame now and then, a bit random but some times 2 times within a second or two.

Dont notice it during regular playback.
 
It's clear to see in mine. In the clip where I am at traffic lights, you. An see the turning/passing cars jumping.
 
When parked the sound do get " weird" i think, listen to this as the gain ramp up after i have parked, there are no RC helicopter hovering above my car.

Funny thing though, on the youtube upload the noise are less noticeable than on the raw file, so there i have to really turn up my speakers to hear it, that is not needed on the raw file playing from my computer.

 
I dont see that just a ultra short lag now and then if i playback in slow motion, one or more missing frames and the cars would just " time warp " ahead, but i dont see that.
I have not looked closely at footage from the past to days, will look back further.

Could it be a case of the memory card ? i use the new Samsung evo plus card
 
I am on a firmware from 11 May. so far i just gotten that one firmware.
 
It's something to do with the chip not able to handle 2x 2K at once, certainly at higher bitrates.
 
I am running the maximum bitrate as always, as i recall the front camera have a bitrate of 31 mbit.
I must say this double or missing frames it seem to be pretty normal with many dashcams, make me wonder if it is something that is there from the factory, or something that sneak in during development.

I tool a look at the WD purple memory card i used in the camera first, but also here the level of double frames was about the same as far as i can tell.
 
On my camera the rear camera have a higher bitrate, so looking on the front video it say 31 mbit, but the same file from the rear camera say 36 mbit

I would prefer if the megabits was spend mainly on the front camera, the rear camera are secondary to me.
 
Currently running a 8 hour parking guard session, though the car will run out of sun exposure before it is half way done.
Also while sunny it is not that terrible hot today, i hope for much worse to come soon.

Okay the A229 did not do 8 hours of parking guard this time, but only due to me going for a short drive around the 7 hour mark.
So the little heat of today did not push the camera over the thermal top, but that will get challenged another day i am sure.
BTW ! I tried to launch the wifi to do the duration change from 1 hour to 8, but that just locked up the camera completely, even the video on the screen locked up and i had to pull the plug to turn the camera off.
Anyway did the change on the screen after my "reboot".

Made a video of all the parking files from the rear camera, and speed it up 100 X, there are things going on in the back yard, not least now that the local "business man" that drive the AMG SUV and the SL 580 MERC are remodeling his back yard.

 
I wonder if it is the A229 camera, or just coincidence, but i seem to get a lot of red light runners.
Today, someone already stopped on the other side of a intersection, decided to run a red light, and so set off, and almost getting maximal impact for that.

 
Hi guys, I received and installed the camera, but it is recording with noise. Very fast clicks, and buzzing. ‍♂️
Is it the sd card causing this? Sandisk ultra 256gb.
