Hey there,

I've now learned a lot about the A229 Pro in terms of the image sensors, the different configurations and, above all, the bit rates of the videos.
I have already become aware of the following bitrate tables (see below) and I have noticed that the bitrate of the front camera becomes lower (almost cut in half) as soon as the interior camera is connected.

However, the interior camera is only of interest to me in parking mode, which is why I was very happy about the 1.3 firmware update.
Accordingly, I set the interior camera to “Parking Mode only” in the menu and thought that I would get 59.8 Mbps in two-channel mode while driving, but the front camera still only records at 36.0 Mbps.

My intended setup looks like this:

When driving: Front + Rear Camera recording (all 3 cameras connected) - should actually give 59.8 Mbps (F) + 23.8 Mbps (R) but it is 36.0 Mbps (F) + 23.8 Mbps(R).
When parking: Front + Rear + Interior Camera recording (all 3 cameras connected) - should actually result in 4 Mbps (F) + 4 Mbps (R) + 4 Mbps (I) - i haven't tested, but it's not crucial for me either.

Is this a bug or what could be the reason?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I noticed the exact same behavior with the A139 Pro in 2023 and the A229 Pro since I upgraded.

It would be nice to get the full Bitrate when only recording 2CH despite having 3CH connected.

Can you please have a look? @viofo @VIOFO-Support

Turning off interior camera only disables the recording, but the front camera still can detect it as long as it is connected. So the bitrate is still for three channels.

I’ve been vocal about this since the A139 Pro (2022).
Stop reducing Bitrate from the Front / Main camera when adding remote channels.
You continue to do this on the A329.
Please figure out a way to handle the processing load, and extra heat from ALL CHANNELS.
Customers are catching on.
Can we just get a BOX unit already? lol

Thank you for your answer.

Is there any intention to correct this faulty behavior? The main camera should not be interested in connected but unused devices and should not take them into account when selecting the bit rate. @VIOFO-Support

I am very interested in using the scenario described by @vJan00. I would like to have the full bitrate of 2CH while driving and use 3CH while parked.

Side note: An A329 3CH with SSD recording and full 3CH bitrate would also be extremely interesting for me.

For interior camera, it should be detected by the front one to get to work. If it can be disabled completly via settings or buttons, then the interior one may not start to work when unplugging and plugging the interior cable since it may give wrong "signal" to the front camera. The interior camera should always be detected by the front one as long as it is connected to the front camera.

Probably constrained by the NT98530 otherwise Viofo would hammer it bitrate-wise if it were possible

I tend to agree with zero.fanfics, if the software option is set to off, then that should free up bit-rate. What you have done is not a bug, but it is a software design decision, that may be driven by hardware, not sure. I do know that on my A229, using a telephoto and an interior camera, I often unplug the interior camera from the side of the A229 Pro when the A229 Pro gets too hot and my AM band starts to squeal. So far, I have had no failure of the A229 Pro sensing the 2 channel or 3 channel modes as I plug and unplug the Interior camera. YMMV
