That's cool.
FYI for anybody *who's not aware*, these are October's firmware though, there are 1 or 2 November beta firmwares being passed around if it doesn't resolve the issue you might think a beta one might -- this October's has been confirmed to correct the Auto HDR not going back to 60FPS bug...

*edit*

This is the new V1.1 version, now ready for public testing.

  2. Optimized external SSD support
  3. Optimized audio quality
  4. Fixed Auto HDR issue

Fixed Auto HDR issue
Pause 3 sec and 8 sec from the remote control!
Now it reads videos from SSD disk, great!!

But don't flash from SSD, it's all about the bootloader and it can't be changed with firmware?

  1. Optimized audio quality
Audio Volume Level is not fixed.

The A329 audio quality may have slightly improved with v1.1_241227, but the recording level is still far too low. Comparing the A329 audio with audio recorded by a MIOFIVE S1 Ultra, the A329 is very quiet compared to the S1 Ultra. This screenshot shows a typical audio level for both dash cameras with music playing through the car's stereo. The A329 is at -29.3 dB while the S1 Ultra is at -16.0 dB.

The A329's audio [microphone] recording volume needs to be increased somewhat to make the audio sounds "normal".

Are the microphones the same between the A329 and the A229 Pro? Have anyone opened up the A329 and examined the microphone to see if it has a "wind screen" in front of it. If the microphones are different I would put the A229 microphone into the A329 and test again.

Would have to see if those FCC photo listings have the teardown for the mics. Don't think pop filters as you say would be that beneficial in consumer electronics - that's more for recording in a studio (or when I used to have a podcast, used for that).

Just think the levels on the mic are way too low, strange because if the volume levels are usually ok with their older models (and not having too much distortion), then why reduce them here.

I was surprised to find a filter of sorts in front of the microphone on my A229 Pro, but there it was. Rather thin, probably more for dust than anything else, and I doubt it affects volume much. What is on the A329 I have no clue, probably the same but since there is a volume difference it would be interesting to know if both dash cams used the same microphone. It would at least rule out hardware and point to software.

I probably have more photos of a disassembled A229 Pro than can be found on the FCC OET Exhibits list. 🙂 I had one camera that was a problem child from the start so instead of sending it back, I took advantage of the opportunity to learn more about the camera. 🙂

Colour me surprised, seems to be a filter after all, volume wise you are correct it wouldn't reduce it much - filters as we know are more for attenuating harsh high frequencies out etc.

Convinced its more a software thing in this instance, strange but it happens

No video output in HDMI on TV, neither when recording, nor when reading!!

Could you say what you mean a different way please.
I have been doing some testing on the A329 HDMI and am interested in your findings.

What exactly did you do with HDMI(NDMI)?
I just connected 329 via cable via NDMI to the TV and got nothing, I need it specifically to the TV!!
It works with the monitor, my monitor is 2K, and the resolution in the 329 menu does not affect the image output!!

Thanks for the reply.

I have tested it on both a 4K Hisense 55" TV and a 4K Lenovo screen.
On the TV it shows as connected as 1080p but I can't be sure if that is correct.
When I playback the recordings it looks like it is in 4K. More testing to do I guess.
On the Lenovo it connects at 4K with 60Hz

I used the same cable for both tests.

When I get it to do playback it hangs sometimes. I have to disconnect the unit from the power. Note I am using the power from the TV usb port so that may effect it.

Is an NDMI the same as HDMI as I am not aware of NDMI.

Thanks for the answer, I will try the HDMI regime again!!
Sorry for the typo by the translator NDMI!!
Of course HDMI!! 😡

I upgraded to this firmware version and the dashcam reset itself to factory settings and I can't see to get the bluetooth report to pair back with the A329. Any suggestions on what to do?

Manually default the cameras settings through the cameras menu and test again.
