Is anyone having issues with parking mode turning itself off with this new fw? The first time I thought it was my mistake where I updated and reset settings and forgot to choose my parking mode, even though I’d set the timer cutoff.

However this morning I just noticed that parking mode was turned off again. The timer cutoff is still enabled, but parking mode was turned off.

I set it back to hybrid parking mode again and it’s staying on after a quick test, but we’ll see if it shuts off again over the next few days.

Update: I've been able to replicate this issue. If you remove the dashcam from the mount, it shuts off, and then you slide it back on while the car is still parked, it doesn't see the new parking mode options when you reinstall it and thus it defaults back to parking mode off. However, if I power the car on, then the new parking mode options show up.

So there's something going on with it not always enabling the new parking mode options. I'm testing with the HK4.

Again, the issue is that the new parking modes can disappear while the old ones remain active. If your selected parking modes goes away, parking mode will get disabled altogether. This is different from previous Viofo’s.

Isn't the issue that you removed the power, then replaced the power, but gave it no ACC signal. In that case, Viofo dashcams do not enter parking mode until they get an ACC signal, and then it is removed again. So maybe there is a problem when you remove the power, replace the power, and then go into the settings before you have given it an ACC signal, while if you had given it an ACC before entering the settings then there would have been no problem...

Just went and played with it some more. You can enter the settings as soon as you put the dashcam back on the mount and before you start the car back up, but because it boots up in driving mode even though the dashcam should be in parking mode. My guess is it's unable to recognize the HK4 present when it starts back up with the car parked and so it disables hybrid parking mode at that time, even after you turn the car back on and the dashcam boots up normally.

Here's a quick demo video of me playing around with it, first trying to go into the settings while the car is parked like you mentioned, and the second time just reinstalling the dashcam on the mount and starting the car normally, only to see that parking mode turned itself off in this situation too.

For this reason, even if you don't go into settings before giving it an ACC signal, it will disable parking mode and will no longer work in parking mode after the next time you restart your car.

The issue arises, like you say - when someone sets their camera up in that mode and leaves it thinking it's permanent and good to leave, won't realise that disconnecting the camera and reconnecting it some time when the engine is off will no longer make that option possible - but will then remain in that state until its manually changed again.

It would probably take a lot of work in the firmware to make it so that you can have a default settings for ON whenever the camera gets ignition power again, so it reverts back to that setting automatically, rather than having the user go back in to settings to change.

Given that removing a memory card while the dashcam is running can potentially lead to corruption issues, I always like to power down the dashcam before removing the memory card. It's also very common that after I'm done grabbing footage, I go back in the garage, reinsert the memory card, and plug in / remount the dashcam. (Some dashcams like Blackvue's require you to remove the power cable in order to access the memory card.)

However, I've never had a dashcam disable parking mode on itself when I put it back on the mount or reinsert the power cable, regardless of if the vehicle's engine is on or off.

It's kind of dumb to have to first power on the vehicle before sliding the dashcam back onto the mount if you want to continue using parking recording.

Is there any way for the dashcam to recognize the HK4/HK6 if it's plugged in and powered on while the vehicle is parked? I'm guessing most people will operate it this way, not turning the car on first before powering the dashcam back on.

For this reason, I do power the vehicle back on if I need to quickly change settings which can be a bit annoying, but at least it's clear that you have to do this to change settings. With parking mode being disabled quietly though, this isn't very clear and I could see people not realizing that their parking mode has silently disabled itself.

Interesting. I tried low bitrate just now on my A329S and it won’t go into the menu when parked. When it’s set to AED or hybrid/AED, I can stop recording but the menu button takes a photo.

Before publishing the post, I checked on my A329S and went into the settings without any problems.
Now I tried to repeat and shoot a video and I can't go in.

The end goal is to remove the memory card safely, and we’re discussing stopping recording to avoid corruption. Easier to just hit the stop recording button than to do it all through WiFi. 🙂

The VIOFO website has updated A329S and A329T firmware files v1.2_250708 that address the following issues:

1. Added: Support long-press the menu button to enter the menu.
2. Fixed: the 60fps issue.

I'm not a fan of the "1" change since the long press of the "menu" button would power down the dash camera. Now, the long press puts you into the settings menu. To power it down now, you must continue to hold the "menu" [super long press] button even after it enters the settings menu.

I don't have my A329S yet, because it is being held hostage by USA customs, but I guess that customers were accidentally powering off their dashcams when only trying to get to the menu? I never turn my dashcam off. Do you do it often and have to do it in a rush?
