Viofo MT1 Dual Motorcycle Dashcam: Sample Video

I asked viofo a few months ago about release dates, they said there had been a delay due to a problem with the camera, no update since then.

If you are willing to drill a hole in the mirror and trail the wire that way thru, you might stand a chance with a MC camera.
After all you should be able to screw the camera onto the mirror pretty good, and if you route the wire thru the mirror what wire you have between that and the camera unit will be little.
But yes the wires are pretty thick around 6-7 mm i think, at least the wires on my dual remote dashcam are that thick, easy to tell from a ordinary USB wire on the computer.

The camera units on the Gnet camera should be waterproof, and as it sit there close to the door / front panel gap i think it should also be protected by the mirror i assume will be sitting almost directly above it.
But yes would be sad if the camera housings was made in really thin fragile plastic, also i am not that happy about the chrome, but as a painter ( too ) i will have no problem painting the camera housing the same color as the car using a can of repair spray or regular repair paint i can transfer to a airbrush.

I was in Singapore in 1990, the taxi driver from the hotel to the airport,,,, only time i have been afraid in a car.
Otherwise very nice place and traffic, i hope to visit again some day soon before i get too old to travel the world.

Thanks for your reply... very informative! :)

Yes, the motocycle cams I am interested in is the Vsystos M6F series, which looks clear in the Youtube vids. You're right about the wire thickness, n thats why I need to talk to my installer to see if the side mirror gaps into the car interior has enough space for these thick wires before buying the MC cams.

in the intro video, i think the g-styx cams were installed on the opening side of the front doors? Dun rem them being installed on the front panel gap under the side mirrors... ya, the chrome is too visible and need to hand paint it dark....

You're always welcome to visit Singapore anytime! (but not now as we're almost total lockdown due to the coronavirus). There have been many changes to our country and more attractions for you to visit (casinos, many gardens, Sentosa, malls and more malls, haha. :)
The weather is still the same.. hot and humid all year round.. but we are also a good drop off point to visit the other tropical countries around us, like Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand.. all only about 2-3 hrs short budget flight away... the Uber and taxi drivers are still some crazy, but you can tell them to go slow-er.. haha...

Thanks very much for the update! :)

Anyone knows when this motocycle cam will be released for sale?
For some reason related to the manufacturing factory, Viofo curtailed this program. Look at B1M, apparently it’s Viofo’s partners

I am thinking of installing the 2 cams underneath my car's side mirrors, to record any side swipes.

Are these motocycle cams feasible for such side recordings or are there better alternatives? These motocycle cams themselves are quite big and bulky and may look awkward beneath the side mirrrors.. Hmmm

Hope you all can kindly advise.. Thanks a lot!
I installed mine under the side mirrors and it worked quite well, gave the same view you would get in the mirror, but wider angle so it also gave the view out of the driver's/passenger's window up to 90 degrees, it didn't see anything forward of the side mirror..

I installed mine using magnets to attach to the door, so it was temporary, but even using a GoPro magnetic mount, they looked OK, not very noticeable unless you looked. They will always be visible.

They are not able to look both forward and backwards, so there is still some of the car not covered. I've ended up with an interior cabin camera looking back from the rear view mirror, and another mounted on the high level brake light looking forward. That does cover everything, except what is blocked by pillars, head rests and heads. I'm not sure which is best, the side mirror cameras do have the advantage of being able to see actual contact with your vehicle, the interior ones don't need cleaning as much!

Thank you for the tip on the B1M. This motocycle price is acceptable and looks good. Only let down (to me) is the lack of a screen to see what the cameras are looking at.. useful for parking too! The Vsystos M6F has such a screen and is not too much higher in price too..

Thanks again for your reply.

A screen is unnecessary for a motorcycle camera, it makes it far more difficult to mount.

Thanks very much for your detailed reply.. :)... its good to know I am not the only one who thinks there's a need to look sideways too! Haha!

Yes, I'm primarily concerned about side swipes, as these can be argued to be 50-50 cases when in fact I am the innocent party being hit.. so a small investment here is good. I have the Mobius Maxi pointing to the side of the car window, but the view is less than desirable as it cannot see the conditions happening before the side swipe occurred. It's position can only show when the other car is approaching the side and contact, but not much else.. not an ideal video to show the insurers to claim liability on the criminal!

I think I'll end up with the Vsystos M6F, once my installer confirms the thick wires can go through the side mirror casing hole.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts and info about your own installation.. appreciated.

Ahhhh.. but i am mounting the screen in my car's dashboard. Think it shld be OK?

In my experience there are too many wires to be able to make it look neat, dashboards never have convenient spaces for such things, much easier with the wifi cameras that you can hide under the dash, or inside the glove box. Or in the engine compartment in my case.

Hi Nigel, Thanks for your advice. The B1M would fit your description with its output via WiFi.

It is not a product issue, we just need to change the lens design to not make conflict with others.
We changed some small things, the new version will be better than the previous version, the new release time will be in May.

With MT1, does the dual camera embed the 2nd video on top of the feed of the main camera, or does it create 2 separate video files, like the G3 dual camera.
If there is a way to seperate the video could someone let me know how
Thanks

It is 2 separate files i think, the way of one on top of the other are a old and unfortunate way of doing it for 2 channel cameras.

It is 2 separate files front and rear, in the op video one is over the other but not all the time, same as all car dual dash cams, 2 separate files.

Only the live view has the rear overlayed, and that is selectable like it is for the Viofo dual dashcams, they use the same app.

You can do what you want with the recorded video files in a video editor.

Live View on your phone, as there is no display on the unit.

Cheers guys, a friend of mine is testing an MT1 and he reported recorded video had Pip embedded, i suspect user error.

Mine stopped recording, thought it was the main unit broke, a cable had come unscrewed near the unit. Oops.
