My previous thread of the same title has disappeared!?

History: I have Viofo A119 V2 and V3 fitted to two cars for the last ten years or so, each car with inbuilt shut off to the power supply after around 20 minutes.
Problem: I now have a 3rd 2005 car with continuous power to outlets. How do I get the 3rd cam to auto shut off?

I've found a brand new A119 V2 I'd forgotten about, pictured left below, alongside an original V119 Vzero...

I also found online Viofo's OBD timer and battery drain protector cable: https://viofouk.co.uk/product-category/accessories/obd-power/

This allows me to shut off the camera without delving into the fuse box for a hardwired solution.

(NB. I'm not sure if Viofo's OBD cable supports the original A119 or A119 V2. They show a USB C connector on the cam cable for "All Cameras Apart from A119v3/A129 Series" and the correct USB Mini connector for the "A119v3/A129 Series Only" in the above link.)

Question: If I transfer the A119 V3 to the 3rd car, will its "parking mode timer" shut off the cam COMPLETELY (no battery drain) if I set the OBD timer to "continuous", as below...

...if not, I'm sure the OBD's inbuilt 3hr/24hr timer will be fine.

Is the Viofo OBD timer and battery drain protector a good solution for what I'm trying to do, i.e. fit a simple camera to a car with continuous power from its outlets?
And yes, it does have an OBD port under the dash.

Thanks all.

If you order OP100 directly from VIOFO you select which cable you need, (Type-C or Mini USB).

If you order from Viofo UK it looks like they sell OP100 in three different variations.
1.) OP100 no cable £40
2.) OP100 Type-C £50
3.) OP100 Mini-USB £50

I have an OP100 on hand if you need me to do any testing / probing on it.
But I don't have an A119V3 on hand.

That's weird.

Just to clarify;
1.) You want to power the camera without hardwiring into fusebox.
2.) You want the camera to completely shut off after you turn engine off.
3.) You do NOT want Parking Mode coverage.
Is this correct?

Wouldn’t it be great if VIOFO had a CLA Car Charger like the current D6000 with Low Voltage Cut-off switch (12.4V / 12.2V / 12.0V / 11.8V / OFF)?
That’s #16 on my VIOFO Improvement Wishlist 2026
This is for folks who have cars with 12V Cigar Power Outlets that are permanently “hot” (never shut off).

But, I know it will never happen because new cars these days do not have 12V Cigar Power Outlets, because they’re being phased out, and replaced with USB Type-C.

Thanks Chuck.

I'm confused. I refer to this page: https://viofouk.co.uk/product/vio-obd-type-mini/

Viofo refer to the 'Constant power cable' which "will protect your vehicle battery by shutting down within 90 seconds if it detects the battery voltage is less than 12V/24V" and also to the optional 'Parking mode cable' which "provides a stable power supply for your dash cam and automatically activates Parking Mode when the engine is turned off."

So, have I got this right:

1/ The Constant power cable allows me to choose a power cut off time for NORMAL recording to stop, either 3hrs/24hrs/continuous, plus under 12v drain protection.

2/ The Parking mode cable still allows the 3hrs/24hrs/continuous power cut off time (as this is a feature of the OBD plug itself) and also under 12v drain protection but also switches the camera into parking mode for me to select other times, FPS, etc.

What's the point of having both the OBD plug inbuilt timer AND the camera's parking mode timer with this second cable, or is it just cheaper to only produce one OBD plug with its built in timer function?

Sorry for the delayed response, because of the time difference I just got up from my nap.
I’m dying to answer your two questions, but I’m more concerned with only providing 100% accurate facts, (not guessing, or surmising).
At this point usually I would test OP100 with A119V3 to confirm & verify what I tell you is correct.
But, I only have OP100 on hand, (I don’t have an A119V3 test unit).
So unfortunately I must refer you to SUBMIT A TICKET to get accurate answers.
