Viofo Recorder New App (ios)

Today i noticed a new publicly available new app by Viofo.

I think the Chinese text says Recorder.

I'll have more to post later today.

The app works well however I have noticed some digital noise when streaming to the phone.
It shows all the cameras that Viofo have sold it seems but I think this will come back and bite them as they will need to constantly keep updating the app and the pictures in the app.

I expected the new app to allow over the air updates but I haven't seen this in action yet. Perhaps it is coming and only needs one of the dashcams to require the update then it will become obvious?

This app asks for your location when it starts which I don't really like. I don't remember the old app doing that.

Maybe they are starting a brand new app for a complete revamp.

Its been out 2 weeks. I have been using it. There is now a problem if you have Iphone 15,16, or 17 with the island. Which I reported. The island now blocks the icons at the top of the app. Other than that the app is more streamlined and way better for end user.

Maybe we could put together a wishlist for the app. I'd love to see VIOFO succeed with a better app.

This is way better than prior app. I still wish they had an advanced settings section. But this is still a better user experience.

How much longer are they going to offer both of these Apps….I would think to the unknowing end user it’s a bit confusing really…

Are you able to use both Apps and control the dashcam settings/access without messing things…or is it better to stick to one App only..?
Is there anything missing in the new App that the older App has..?

i have used both without any issues. Some people may like the old app. So who knows. I may find out more tomorrow.

How did you use the A119MPro on the new app?

I didn't see it listed in the iPhone App Store and it doesn't connect when trying manual mode.

Also asked if the pictured could look like the actual camera.

Some people may like the old app.

I kind of like the old APP, I'm going to miss it.
My only complaint is we have to use two different APPs, (one for dash cam, one for Viofo BP100 Battery Pack).
Hopefully this "new" APP will be the "end all be all" and we only need a single APP for both cameras, and battery packs.
Can you ask about that tomorrow?

Another dashcam company (Vantrue) had 2 apps for ages and yeah it was confusing.

Perhaps Viofo is making sure the new app works correctly before they remove the old one? I'm guessing of course.

I was going to ask you about this….I’m presuming the BP100 doesn’t show on the ‘old’ App then..?

EDIT: Actually, just seen your screen grab and saw you have a separate Battery App – I presumed you meant the ‘new’ App as per the top of this thread…

With iOS, unfortunately it’s sort of the only easy way to offer out a ‘Beta’ version….If you look at the Blog on Viofo’s website re the A329x V2 firmware, it suggests downloading the ‘beta’ version of the app and provides links for both Android and IOS – As there isn’t a iOS beta store for Apps, I guess they just published the new version to the main store….
I guess at some point, hopefully soon, they’ll lose the Beta moniker and remove the other, older, App….Providing of course the new App has at the least the full functionality of the current App…! 🙄

Thanks Chuck. I did actually know about TestFlight – I just kinda meant that there isn’t an easily accessible Beta store option for iOS for Joe Smith on the street….

TBH, I don’t know why Viofo haven’t put the ‘new’ general App into the cover of TestFlight and then invite the regular testers and folk who want to give it a try – having the two Apps in the main store is just confusing….Perhaps they’ll kill the ‘old’ App this week during SEMA…?🤔

Yeah isn't the easiest TestFlight but I've used it over a decade ago for some other phone companies and it does work well.

All these app situations will sort themselves out haha

What is your app version? We released a new version 4.2.10 that was adapted to A119M pro in Apple Store.

This new app is a great opportunity for VIOFO. Fingers crossed they add a Timeline to it.

The old app works and yes I have that version and use it.

The version is not shown in the App Store however the app once installed does show version 1.0.1.37
