The VIOFO T340 3CH / 4CH dash camera has a new barrel design for the front camera which also includes an integrated QHD fisheye interior camera. The T340 offers the same general features as the A329S series of dash cameras with a variety of telephoto and rear camera configurations, but there is no SSD support like the A329S series offers.

I've not had the time to perform my full power consumption test suite for the T340.

Reserved for future power consumption test results.

Excellent looking camera, same shell style as BlackVue and without a screen, and with the bonus of a telephoto lens.

Looking forward to the video samples and comparisons.

You can run the front cam along with the telephoto at same time? Or how does that all work?

Where is the telephoto cam placed relative to the normal front cam?

My vehicle that had the T340 4CH installed now has the T330 installed on the front windshield. My vehicle's windshield is a bit limited on free/usable dash camera space since I have six dash cameras on the front windshield.

I left the T340's RTC420 telephoto camera on my windshield while I have the T330 installed in the T340's place. I mounted the telephoto camera just above the T340 as you can see in the pictures [just above the T330 in the pics].

There's a 1.0 meter coaxial cable that connects the telephoto [or cabin/interior for the T330] to the front camera.

The right side picture of the T340 has an "EXT" port there the telephoto camera would connect to it.

Where you decide to place the RTC420 on your vehicle's windshield is up to you so it captures the field of view you want.

Before someone asks, I'm using a 3-D printed wedge shaped mount plate in addition to the T330/T340 windshield mount. My vehicle has a very curved windshield as you move out from the center. I've used wedge shaped mount plates to help counteract the severe curve of this vehicle's windshield. This helps level out and keep the field of view focused forward rather than off to the side. This should not be as much of an issue if the camera is mounted closer to the center of the windshield.

The T340 having the internal cabin/interior camera on the left end [same end as the front camera] might require the T340 front unit be mounted a bit lower [to avoid the center rear view mirror housing] or further to the right to allow the internal cabin/interior camera to have an unobstructed field of view of the passenger compartment. The other option would be to rotate the T340 180 degrees to have the front/interior cameras on the right side and then use the T340's settings to rotate those cameras' recorded images.

Here's an example of the T340 front camera and the RTC420 capturing the same vehicle at the same time. Having the RTC420 telephoto camera mounted just above the T340 did not obstruct its field of view since its field of view is very narrow. Since the T340 limits the number of cameras with HDR enabled to a max of two [front + one other], I had HDR enabled for the front camera plus the rear camera during this drive. That's why the telephoto's image is a bit overexposed compared to the front camera's image.

Disappointed no LTE or Starvis 3… they look a lot like my blackvue… any idea if the processor has changed and other than T330 3ch and T340 4ch… what is the difference? So far they look the same but there are no numbers out… interested in knowing the heat rating and how hot they get in the new compaq design… blackvue is or was rated for higher temps than the previous Viofo models… in Texas this matters to me. I would have been all in on this if they had the LTE or Starvis 3… now Im thinking Ill keep running my old 900 X Plus until it dies or something else comes out… Im not sold on the Blackvue elites at all.

What I'm trying to find out is the following:

You can run both Front and Telephoto cams at the same time while driving. In Parking Mode, do you have to unplug the Telephoto cam to disable it or can you do it via a button or the settings in the Menu?

PS. How are the connectors on the cables? Are they affected by movement or jiggling like on the A139 model?

There's a setting for the interior/telephoto/rear cameras that lets you decide when they should be enabled:

Pulling from the viofo_config.ini I have from the T340:

Code:
# Interior Camera, 0:Off; 1:On; 2:Only On while Driving; 3:Only On while Parking
Interior Camera=1
# Tele Camera, 0:Off; 1:On; 2:Only On while Driving; 3:Only On while Parking
Tele Camera=1
# Rear Camera, 0:Off; 1:On; 2:Only On while Driving; 3:Only On while Parking
Rear Camera=1

You can also configure the "Custom Button" on the lower right side of the T340 to perform an action during a short and long press of that button.

Code:
[Custom Key]
# Short Press,
# 2:Take a Photo
# 8:Turn On / Off HDR
# 6:Parking Mode
# 7:Switch to Timelapse Recording
# 10:Turn On / Off Interior Cam
# 11:Turn On / Off Rear Cam
# 9:Format SD
# 13:Turn On / Off Tele Cam
Short Press=2
# Long Press,
# 2:Take a Photo
# 8:Turn On / Off HDR
# 6:Parking Mode
# 7:Switch to Timelapse Recording
# 10:Turn On / Off Interior Cam
# 11:Turn On / Off Rear Cam
# 9:Format SD
# 13:Turn On / Off Tele Cam
Long Press=9

T330/T340
I forgot to ask this most important question;
Are your T330 & T340 & A149 Pro Pre-Production test units, or are the fully finished retail versions, (same as sold to customers)?
Reason I ask is because it's possible there might be hardware changes right?

The F/stop information that I was originally provided for the T340's interior camera lens was incorrect. I stated F/2.2, but it's actually F/1.6. I've updated that information in my first post.

My T330/T340/A149 Pro were all pre-production/prototype units. The only "changes" I'm aware of between them and the production units is that there was a minor change in the T330/T340 windshield mount to address an issue I identified with my units.

Oh my gosh, what if LifeHackster installs another Pre-Production / Prototype, and he starts testing it with a rubber mallet again.

With the release of the A149 Pro, T330, and T340 dash camera models, VIOFO stated that the A149 Pro should use the HK6-A hardwire and the T330/T340 models should use the HK6-F hardwire kit.

All three dash camera models can be powered by the older HK4 hardwire kit, the HK6, or the two new HK6 variants [HK6-A, HK6-F].

You can still use a HK4 hardwire kit to power the dash camera, but you'll miss out on the HK6 added features. When you use a HK4 hardwire kit, you miss out on the "Cut-Off Voltage" battery protection feature and the ability to display the vehicle's voltage level in the video's "Stamp" [status line]. That's true for all models that include those new features [A329S series, A119M Pro, A149 Pro, T330, T340].

The only difference between the HK6, HK6-A, and HK6-F hardwire kits is the USB-C connector that plugs into the dash camera.

I outline the differences in this other thread.

how about the birrate of t330 and t340

I just tested a 3CH, 2CH, and 1CH T330 configurations. Temporarily, I cannot test the T340.

The bitrate I previously reported for the T330 was with older beta firmware installed. VIOFO will tune/adjust the bitrates as needed until the production release of the firmware/product.

I now have firmware v1.0_260910 installed in the T330.

I examined 2CH [front+rear] footage from this morning's drive and the front bitrate was 49.1 Mbps. A 1CH [front] configuration created 49.1 Mbps front video footage. As a 3CH configuration [front+rear+interior], the front video bitrate dropped to 41.0 Mbps. This morning's 1CH and 3CH tests were with the vehicle stationary. I'll check the bitrate the next time I drive the vehicle.
