I forgot to followup in this thread about the latest new extra short pan/tilt/swivel Adhesive mount we now offer. It's even shorter yet!

Here's the suction cup version:

Will these mounts work with the G1W series of cameras?

Niko sent me these two mounts recently. I am currently using the suction-cup one, but I have swivelled the T-mount thru 180 degrees - ie unscrewed the knurled knob and removed the pin, turned the actual mount and re-assembled. Still have full range of adjustments.

This has the advantage (for me at least) of throwing the camera an inch or so further forward towards the windscreen. Possible downside is that there isn't two sets of teeth meshing together, but mine hasn't moved in a week. Also, it would not be difficult to add some 'teeth' with a file if it did move. Later (when it gets a bit warmer out there!!), I will be adding two more extension strips to throw the camera even further forward. I have this theory that the less glass the camera can see, the less reflections will be recorded. I'm aware that the longer the linkage, the more chance of vibration, but I'll give it a go.

If it all works, I'll then swap the whole thing over to the 3M mount.

OK 1) Suction mount with T-mount turned thru 180 degrees

and 2) here with camera in (more or less) correct position.

Similarly with the 3M mount - take the offset T-mount from the suction mount

and again, with camera

Finally, if you'll excuse my poor photoshop skills, I will form a couple of bits like that in yellow to throw the camera even more forward.

Unfortunately, I think the GPS housing is the wrong shape on the G - it is the first thing that is going to touch the windscreen. I had thought about putting a flat plate between the GPS module and the camera body, but I'm sure this would invalidate any warranty!! With a couple of plates as above, I should be able to get the lens as close as possible to the windscreen.

while this looks like something you'd want to do you often find once the bracket starts getting longer that the bracket will not be stable enough and you end up with a jello effect to your videos

I have tried this as well. Its a most closest to windshield solution as can get with combination of two mounts.
There is other more "close solution" coming out soon. I just need some time.
