Hello,

I am so happy I was able to buy the dashcam during their anniversary sale and got it at a huge discount. I finished installing it in my car last weekend. I tested it and drove around for a few miles during the day, and I am very satisfied with the video quality from the front and rear cameras. However, for the interior camera, I noticed that the video quality seems to have too much sharpening and contrast. To describe it, freckles, pimples, or moles on the face and skin look exaggerated and appear like black spots in the video. Is it really designed this way? Is this because of the IR or HDR effect? I am comparing this to the interior camera of the 70mai T800 installed in our other car, which does not look like that. Please note that I'm not bashing Vueroid; I'm just curious if this is how it's supposed to look and want to learn more about it.

Honestly, I have never noticed that with the interior cam; I will need to check. I do not have any moles on my face, so I never noticed anything out of the norm, other than that the interior cam does capture my ugliness perfectly well. 😆

I also noticed this during testing.
Let me check my test footage clips to see if I can give you a better answer.
Oh yeah, you're talking daytime image quality right?
How do like the NIGHT TIME (B&W) image quality compared to your T800?
Just like you said I don't think it's a bad thing.
I bet Vueroid tuned the image quality this way for a reason.

I haven't tried testing it at night yet, but hopefully I can this weekend. As for the T800, it's good and we're satisfied. I'm excited to test the S1 4K Infinite at nighttime because I'm expecting it to be even better.
I read somewhere that the HDR for the interior camera is always on. Maybe that is why it looks that way during the day. Is there a way to turn it off during the day and turn it on at night?

Actually, my wife is complaining because she wants to look good on video, and she noticed that. But of course, I told her that the dashcam is intended for car surveillance and not for a social media video session. Then she compared it to her car, where I installed the T800. 😆

there is noway to turn off the interior cam HDR

Thanks for confirming. Is it possible to add an On/Off or a scheduled HDR option (similar to the front camera) to the firmware?
there is no plan to support on/off HDR and there is no way to control the camera HDR on / off since all image processing is done inside the camera itself. and I don't think linear mode offers any advantage at all for indoor cameras.

VIOFO made A329S IR Interior Camera HDR "always on" with no way to disable in first firmware version.
Robert, and I discovered HDR On during daytime was necessary to see through window glare in parking mode situations to show persons outside the car.
However, HDR On at night time made image quality worse.
VIOFO gave us independent control over HDR for each camera, (front, rear, interior) in later firmware version.

May I know which specific part of the image becomes worse when HDR is on at night? I thought HDR was necessary or better at night.

Correct.
HDR at night is necessary for Front, Rear, Telephoto, Left, Right cameras.
However, Interior Cameras with IR LED Emitters illuminated, I found better night time image quality with HDR Off.

@lempogi

The fundamental concept of our tuning aligns with what you observed and experienced. However, there is also a possibility of image quality issues caused by other factors.
If you could send me a short video clip or a still frame of the footage in question, the engineer who directly handled the tuning will review it and provide feedback or make necessary adjustments if an issue is confirmed.
Due to the nature of in-cabin camera footage, privacy concerns can naturally arise; however, please rest assured that any video sent via DM will be managed with strict confidentiality and security.

Have a good day~

Thank you, I'll send a DM.

Thank you, I'll send a DM.

Thank you so much for kindly sharing the sample videos with us. While we were initially concerned that there might be an unexpected defect, we are relieved to confirm, after reviewing the videos, that there are no technical issues with your unit.
As you correctly pointed out, small features like seat perforations and facial moles appear notably exaggerated. This visual characteristic is actually the result of an intentional tuning approach on our part.

While interior cameras can certainly be used for leisure or personal recording, their primary purpose is in-cabin security and monitoring the left and right side views outside the vehicle—areas that standard front and rear cameras cannot capture. This is precisely why we adopted a wide-angle lens for this camera.

In hindsight, one aspect I personally feel could have been improved is adopting a higher resolution for the interior camera. Our next-generation product is planned to feature a 5MP interior camera.
Technically, a Full HD resolution is adequate for an enclosed vehicle interior where distances are limited. However, we specifically tuned the Image Signal Processor (ISP) to deliver a sharper, higher-contrast image.
From a security and surveillance standpoint, we determined that this high-sharpness tuning is far more effective for clearly identifying small objects, tools, or subtle details.
Furthermore, we set HDR to "Always On" to keep the area outside the vehicle clearly visible during daytime while enhancing the readability of external license plates through this specific tuning concept.

The below is the technical factors within the Image Signal Processor (ISP) pipeline:

- Over-Sharpening & Excessive Edge Enhancement:
During the ISP stage, when sharpening filters are set high to boost texture and outline clarity, the contrast around fine pores and subtle skin contours becomes overly amplified.
This contrast spike creates noticeable dark halo effects and black artifacts.

- HDR & Tone Mapping Calibration:
When pushing dynamic range adjustments under harsh direct sunlight or dusk lighting conditions, aggressively lifting dark regions can cause subtle shadow areas—such as micro-pores or leather seat perforations—to suffer from black crushing or exaggerated contrast clipping.

- Compression Effects:
When high-frequency details (such as fine seat patterns or skin textures) interact with aggressive video compression, pixel contrast spikes can form.
These effects become far more pronounced when viewed on larger monitors or TV screens.

Thank you for choosing Vueroid S1 4K Infinite.
We are always here to support you.

Wow, thank you for the explanation. What I also like about the interior camera is that you can adjust it to any angle or direction, unlike the other brands. Please keep up the good work. Your customer support is top-notch.

TBH i have never tried HDR + Night vision on any dashcam or for that matter my fading CCTV addiction.
At least in night mode i have a hard time imagining it would be needed, but now my mind are sort of peaked a little on this CUZ i never really thought about it.

The girls tell me all the time, but i dont think i am that good looking.

Must admit though a interior camera is absolutely not a must for me.

You need to grow a beard like me, ($9.99 Amazon).

@kamkar @Chuck McCoy you two could then start your own ZZTOP cover band....

Your assessment on the interior camera is wrong @kamkar . Being able to see out the windows for those who don't have side cameras is very important.
