Speaking of the two bare wire ends which I plan to run to ground and an add-a-circuit + line. They are pretty thin and a little hard to strip without breaking some individual strands in the process.

Looking for the best way here, I'm terrible at soldering so that's why I have no gone this route already!

soldering really is the preferred option, very easy to go wrong with crimp connectors and not get a good result

I didn't solder it when I hard wired my CPUSB01 into my car. I used this type of connector and crimp'er. What I did was make sure there was about an inch of bare wire showing and then trifold the bare wire on itself, so it was a "bit" larger in diameter. Inserted the end into the connector and crimp'ed it.

Tools I used:

yep, I have seen this soo many times, connections build up resistance over time and things stop working properly. I only solder these days, 100% reliable.

Okay, Okay... ;)

I'll go dig out my soldering iron and shrink tubing.

I soldered and used glue lined heat shrink. I always use the glue version.

Glue lined heat shrink? Nice! Where do you get those from?

your local electronics store should have them
