I believe the a129 is only rated for cards up to 256gb. What does that mean? A 512gb card won't work? Thanks to any who take the time to respond!
what happens if I stick a 512 gb micro sd card into the a129 pro?

It works fine. Previously it will be formatted as exfat, but the latest firmware will format it as fat32. Any limitation (if there is any) on the 512gb sdcard will be caused by the fat32.

Sometimes a card issue only shows up when overwriting begins, so if you try the 512GB card do monitor it and check things at that point before fully trusting it
