this article shows the importance of good settings for image quality http://www.diyphotography.net/hack-100-yi-action-camera-beat-gopro-hero3-silver/ so it would be great if t5 had scripting capabilities, does someone has informations on thieye t5 scripting capabilities ? i will try using my nd filter and post results on youtube because i noticed all white objects are overblown in full sun.my cheap nd4 is only 2 stops of light reduction but in addition to limiting highlight overblown it helps getting a more natural motion blur for video by *4 the shutter speed that is about 1/2000s without the nd filter (nd16 would have been better in full sun to get close the 180 degree rule for shutter speed in video - warning there are cheap 37mm variable-nd on ebay that will give you more light reduction but they are no good as they soften the image too much - i checked the sharpness of this cheap nd4 and this is ok) + this filter also make a little bit of a lens hood as it is 5mm above the lens + it make a nice lens protection while filming but also while not filming because it comes with a cap (37 mm gopro adapter +37m nd4 filter + lens cap + shipping = $2.5 on ebay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/182348197329)

Hi amanieux
thanks for your information.
ND4 filters are good in these conditions and have used them on an Explorer Elite, "4" definitely seems best for beach scenes too.
Does the adapter you list fit the T5e?.
I was thinking of using the waterproof case 52mm version LINK HERE as I have a lot of close to water shots.

both the 37mm and the 52mm you attach on the camera vignette a little if you use ultrawide video angles (
) , the problem with waterproof case and the square adapter to 52mm filter you show that attaches on the waterproof case is that the square window of the waterproof case in front of the lens is plastic and not glass so it creates a washed out image when you point the camera at the sun.

Might try this "glass" replacement LINK HERE which states it is made of plastic, glass and steel? Other replacements do not say, so would also be plastic. My use mainly "sparkles" and sunlight reflected from water being close.

good workaround but the other reason we should not use underwater case when not in water is camera overheating when you shoot in 4k.

Thanks for noting cam heating with 4K. I tend to use FHD for the higher frame rates for action, fast in surfing and close to the "action" but looking at your vid FHD at 100fps jumps to a different size? 1080p120/60/30 all stay the same. Odd?
I'm in a PAL 50Hz region but stick to NTSC to squeeze out a few fps. Out power supply is 50Hz 240VAC so in the "old days" of analogue TV you would get screen roll but these days, hardly worth the worry.

This is good. Blackout replacement housing stops side lighting getting through! LINK
Video of light leaking through and mod.

try setting ev to -2 , you loose a bit of DR in the blacks but the overall constast is much better (closer to the contrast of yi 4k) and more importantly THE SKY IS LESS OVERBLOWN. if your camera does not restore ev to -2 as with my firmware 022817 (shows -2 in the menu but in fact it is =0) you can put a script at the root that will restore ev to -2 at each power up - the script is there : https://www.goprawn.com/forum/main-forum/1942-script-ideas-for-a12-cams.
aout the different scenes mode (appart from flash that make a very blurry image and night that boosts the color saturation) all the other scene modes give the exact same visual result - am i missing something ? thanks
btw there is also a possibility to get RAW images with the thieye t5 : https://www.goprawn.com/forum/main-forum/3321-a12-raw-scripts

Yes I drop EV to 0.7 or more. Also at night with ThiEYE E7 must drop EV to at least 0.7 of "flares" street lighting.
