Where did you mount the camera? Post your pictures

The light coloured mirror actually draws attention, so I've bought a black one!

Quite obvious from outside, doesn't stop people tailgating or using their phone!

Mounted my Mobius this morning.

nHgOI0u.png

Shows the Garmin Nuvi 57LMT GPS and Mobius mounted on the dash of my F250.

The mobius is on a quick disconnect mount so that I can remove it when I am not driving. I already do this with the GPS and have for more than a year.

View from the camera while mounted in very bright hot sunlight. Was about 107F at the time the images were taken of the mounted items.

There is some reflection in the windshield in bright sunlight. Plan on creating a polarized lens filter soon that I can put on during the day and remove at night.

Parts:
Mobius Action Cam (of course)
Still has battery in it. I have a capacitor to replace the battery but have not installed it yet.

I have a power connector already on the top of the dash (how the GPS is powered) and have a plug splitter (1 to 3) that I will plug into it and plug in both GPS and Mobius later.

Nice install

Updated pics despite it only being a couple of days ago! I felt my grey interior mirror drew attention to my dashcam soI changed it for a black one which looked much more discrete... but then changed my dashcam to an A118c!!

Viofo G1W-S looks hidden when seen from far away. I used to black electrical tape to cover the Viofo logo & white light.

You can only see the lens in this closeup of the windshield.

This is temporary. I ran out of adhesive clips, but at least the cable isn't hanging. I will hide the leftover cable with a dash mat.
Something I didn't notice before, is that this vehicle doesn't have the blue windshield strip.

BTW, this is my dash camera windshield decal. I have it on the front windshield on all my dash cam vehicles. I made it myself on Windows Paint program.

Mine is an IRO camera, got it last year, can really notice unless you're looking hard. Its a A7LA50+OV4689 integrated into a mirror that you get with the camera. Wires can be hidden away although i didn't do mine thorough but you can see that even with my bad mount you can barely see the wires.

I tucked mine up behind my rear view mirror and ran the wiring down the passenger a-pillar to the fusebox.

Same here. The factory conduit for the mirror cable had an opening on both sides, so I was able to use that to make it appear factory.

I had to mount my SG9665GC down from the top of the windscreen to get the lens within the swept area of the wiper blades. It protruded well below the black dotted area at the top of the windscreen.

I used black vinyl to hide the cable tidy and the camera body. I only thought of this as I saw a post from @Blackdog doing something similar.

  • I marked the area (to be covered with vinyl) accurately on the outside of the windscreen with masking tape.
  • I cut the vinyl to size using a straight edge and a Stanley knife on a sheet of wood.
  • I sprayed the inside of the windscreen and the sticky side of the vinyl with a water and washing up liquid mix. Then I applied the vinyl to the inside of the windscreen (lining it up to the masking tape on the outside of the windscreen). The water and washing up liquid mix allows you to position the vinyl easily.
  • Used a wet cloth to wipe over the vinyl while making sure it stayed aligned with the masking tape.
  • Finally used the scraper with a rubber edge (supplied with the vinyl) to work all the air bubbles to the edge of the vinyl.
  • Left for 24 hours and mounted the camera.

Am pleased with the results and the colour match is good.
