Which Rear Dashcam with a low profile

My trusty CR-500HD has been working well serving the front of our car for more than 8 years now. Due to a new, young driver in the home, I need to wire up a rear facing dash cam. Since the the 3rd taillight is mounted on the top so I am seeking one with a low profile. I am also open to any other cam which with a proper mount, would keep the rearview mirror obstruction to minimum

The vehicle it needs to go in is a '10 VW Passat
