WiFi connection with my iPhone 11

I’ve just bought a Nextbase 522 and have a couple of questions.
When I start my car should my iPhone 11 automatically link to my dashcam?
Also when I manually try to connect them the iPhone informs it has connected, the dashcam indicates a connection by icon but an error message ‘connection failed code 1’ appears on the iPhone?
Apologies if this is a dumb question but I’m no spring chicken and can get a bit confused at times with technology.
The dashcam has the latest firmware, I have deleted and reinstalled the app but no luck. Thanking you in advance.

This response does not answer your question, but anyway .....

I received my 522 as a Christmas gift 10 months ago, so I did not spend my money directly on it. It has the plug in rear view also.
I tried connecting my iPhone once, experienced the very slow or non-connection issues for part of that day, and have never bothered trying again, also soon after deleted the iPhone app as well.
I only connect the camera to my laptop periodically to transfer over videos I want to keep, and sometimes use the downloaded MyNextbase Connect to do this.
The dashcam works great for me so far, no freezing or unexplained power downs, etc.
