Xiaomi Yi Cam - Water proof case & Bluetooth remote (I've got both)

Yep, the current firmware already supports bluetooth, as official speaking.

Yes, you already said that, but my question was "what you cannot get, firmware 1.1.0?" as in why you cannot test if doubleclick turns off wifi :)

Does anyone have it in stock?

So confusing english, but I try to guess. OK, I will test to double click, see what happen to the Yi Cam.

Double clicking the wifi button when wifi is on produces a beep but does not turn off wifi. The wifi led does not change. I tried making a new thread about this so we can gather all relevant information in one place.

I tried using my bluetooth enabled selfie stick but cannot find a way to pair it with the Yi.

well DUH, it needs to send specialised command to the camera, so only original (or its clone) would be able to trigger the camera (and do much more for that matter)

Why a special command? Isn't Bluetooth a standard technology - multi-platform and all that?

So is Wifi. But you still need to send the camera proper commands to do something, regardles of the method you do so (wifi, serial console, physical buttons, bluetooth). There isn't any "magic standard" saying "if you connect to the bluetooth and send a 0x01 over it, all devices must do exactly this".

It is very similar to TV remotes - (almost) all of them are using infra diodes, but different set of commands is being sent.

You can pair it but you have to go through your phone. So selfiestick----Bluetooth---->phone<-----Wifi------->Yi camera

It seems to me that the bluetooth selfie stick pairs with the app.
Whereas the bluetooth remote pairs with the Yi.

It's sure a bluetooth control, not wifi !
even bluetooth hardware is the same, due to the software coding inside, maybe cannot use normal selfie bluetooth.
if it can control multiple cams, that will be great.

Edited: official speaking, can not control multi-cams.

I will continue looking for any news about this.

Yi Cam Bluetooth Pair Guidence (I just do the translation job)
1. Upgrade Yi Cam firmware to 1.1.0 (at least);
2. Power on the camera and enable wifi mode (with the blue wifi light blinking);
3. Double click the wifi button, and the blue light will turn on (no blinking);
4. Now Yi Cam enter bluetooth pairing mode (you got 1 minute to finish pairing);
5. Click any of the buttons on the bluetooth controller;
6. Pairing is done. (bluetooth & wifi can be used in the same time)
7. Bluetooth use battery type: CR1632, can be used for 1 year.

Have fun if you can get the Yi Cam bluetooth remote !

I have this same remote and it works with the Yi Camera app.
Pair with the phone (iPhone in my case) and it will trigger exposure on the Yi through the app. Press the button again and end the exposure. Works great!
And it's cheap... :)

Can it directly pair with Yi Cam?

So, Xiaomi wants us to use their bluetooth remote controller. No, thanks! I will not pay $18 just for a BT shutter.
We've already paid about $30 for a problematic WP case, not the same mistake again.

luckylz: as i explained earlier: no.

Somebody have a link to the xiaomi bt remote announcement or where we can order one?

Thanks you :)
