Anker Roav DashCam Duo

The Anker Roav DashCam Duo is a dual channel dash cam released in Feb 2019 by the Chinese manufacturer Anker. Anker is a well known brand for power banks and other mobile charging accessories who entered the dash cam segment in 2017.

While Anker does not disclose what processor the DashCam Duo uses, they do disclose the CMOS senors. The front camera uses a Sony Exmor IMX323 CMOS sensor while the rear camera uses a Sony Exmor IMX323 CMOS sensor. While not the latest Sony sensors, the hardware for this camera is not bad.

Video Quality

The front camera records 1080p video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 10 Mbps for the front camera. The rear camera records 1080p video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 6 Mbps. Video quality for the front camera during the day is good and night quality is average. Similarly the interior camera has good video quality during the day and average quality at night.

Features

The camera has a 1.5″ screen, g-sensor and has built in GPS. Unfortunately the camera does not come with WiFi or supporting smartphone apps. All previous Anker Roav cameras came with WiFi so some owners are surprised when upgrading to this camera and losing this feature. TheDashCam Duo provides non-buffered parking mode if you hardwire the dash cam to your vehicle (optional hardwire kit required).

The camera comes with an adhesive mount which can swivel 360° to record interactions at your side windows (i.e. police traffic stop). The Anker Roav DashCam Duo is a medium sized camera at 83 × 56 × 35mm. The build quality is very good and reliability has been good as well. Unfortunately the camera does not come with audio error notifications, it only comes with screen error notifications.

Support

Anker has excellent support and are very responsive to questions and issues. That being said, we have not seen any firmware updates for this camera since it has been launched.

Known problems

There are no common problems reported with this camera.

Should I Purchase?

The Anker DashCam Duo does a good job as a rideshare cam. Both the front and rear camera have good video quality during the day while night quality is average. Build quality is very good, the camera is reliable and support from Anker is excellent.

Price is reasonable as well as long as you are ok with the video quality and no WiFi. Overall a decent all around rideshare camera.
