The AUKEY DR02 is a Chinese single channel dash camera released in May 2017. There are 2 models of this dash cam. The regular DR02 without WiFi and the DR02 P which comes with built in Wifi. The DR02 P costs approximately $10 more than the DR02. This dash cam is popular on Amazon and has many positive reviews.
The DR02 is based on the Novatek NT96655 processor and Sony Exmor IMX323 CMOS sensor. These are older components and can be found in numerous other popular dash cams.
Video Quality
The DR02 records 1080p video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 12 Mbps. Video quality during the day is good and night quality is average. Overall most people will be happy with the video but it isn’t the best on the market, even when compared to other 1080p cameras.
Features
The camera has a 1.5″ screen, g-sensor and GPS is an optional module. As mentioned the “P” version of this camera comes with WiFi and has apps for Android and iOS. Unfortunately, both apps get very poor scores so we suggest sticking with the original DR02 without WiFi.
The DR02 is a small wedge shaped camera with dimensions of 56 x 56 x 30mm. Overall build quality and reliability is good as well and reliability has been . On the negative side the camera only comes with screen error notifications (no audio notifications) and there is no parking mode available. The camera has an adhesive mount and cannot swivel to record interactions at the driver or passenger windows.
Support
AUKEY has good support and are very responsive to questions and issues. They are one of the few dash cam manufacturers that provide a 24 month warranty which is a strong positive. That being said, we have not seen any firmware updates for this camera since it has launched.
Known Problems
The DR02 has proven to be a reliable camera. While there have been isolated issues, there does not appear to be any widespread issues.
Screen Issues
A few owners have had screen issues with the Aukey DR02 as per the following pictures. This is usually due to hardware failure and there is no known fix other than requesting a replacement if the camera is under warranty.

Should I Purchase?
The AUKEY DR02 is a basic 1080p wedge camera that has proven to be reliable. The use of a capacitor instead of a lithium battery and a 24 month warranty are strong positives. The video quality is not the greatest for this price range and the lack of audio error notifications is a drawback. The WiFi version of this camera (DR02 P) is not worth it due to the lackluster app.
Overall, while we like the form factor and reliability, the newer AUKEY DRA5 Mini is a better value even though it is not as discreet.
