DKK Mini

DKK Mini

The DKK Mini, also known as the DKK Q5, is a Chinese manufactured dual channel dash camera released in Jul 2022. This dual dash cam has many positive reviews on Amazon.

Unfortunately DKK does not provide the processor and CMOS sensor specs for the Mini. Given the low price point of this dual camera, we suspect entry level hardware is being used.

Video Quality

The front camera records 1080p video at 25fps with an average bitrate of 10 Mbps. Video quality for the front camera during the day is average and night quality is poor. The lower framerate results in a slightly choppy looking video.

The rear camera records 720p video at 25fps with an average bitrate of 8 Mbps. Quality is disappointing both day and night and looks worse than the 720p advertised.

Features

The DKK Mini has a 2.45″ screen, g-sensor but does not have GPS. Unfortunately the camera does not come with WiFi or supporting smartphone apps. The Mini provides non-buffered parking mode if you hardwire the dash cam to your vehicle (optional hardwire kit required).

On the positive side, the camera comes with both suction and adhesive mounts. Unfortunately the suction mount is not the best quality and some owners have complained of it breaking. DKK also includes a 32GB microSD card which should eliminate common SD card errors.

The DKK Mini can swivel 360° to record interactions at your side windows (i.e. police traffic stop). The Mini is a small sized camera at 70x47x30mm. The build quality is not the best and reliability has been below average. The camera comes with screen error notifications.

Support

DKK does not have a website and provides very little support for this camera. There do not appear to be any firmware updates since the camera has launched. DKK provides a 12 month warranty, which is standard for most dash cams.

Known Problems

Damaged or Missing Files

A frequent complaint with the DKK Mini is that numerous times files are damaged or missing. If you have this camera, or is important to check the video files on a regular basis to ensure the camera is recording.

Should I Purchase

The DKK Mini is a small, very cheap dual dash cam but video is not impressive. Coupled with unimpressive build quality and poor reliability, makes the DKK a poor choice for an entry level dash cam.
