Crosstour CR750

The Crosstour CR750 is a Chinese rideshare camera released in Jul 2018. This reasonably priced dual dash cam is popular on Amazon and has many positive reviews.

Unfortunately Crosstour does not disclose the processor used in the CR750. That being said, Crosstour claims this dash cam uses a Sony Exmor IMX323 CMOS sensor for the front camera. We have not been able to confirm if this is the case. The sensor for the interior camera is not known.

Video Quality

The front camera records 1080p video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 10 Mbps. Video quality for the front camera during the day is acceptable but not great. The colors appear to be washed out and the video is sometimes jittery. Unfortunately video quality at night is disappointing particularly in lower lit situations.

The interior camera records 720p video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 6 Mbps. There is a noticeable drop in quality for the interior camera but it is fine during the day to record occupants in the vehicle. This camera also has 4 infrared LEDs to illuminate the cabin at night. However, video quality at night is disappointing here as well. While passengers in the front seats are clearly visible, the camera does not do a great job of capturing rear seat passengers.

Features

The Crosstour CR750 has a 2.4″ screen, g-sensor and has built in GPS. Unfortunately the camera does not come with WiFi or supporting smartphone apps. The CR750 provides non-buffered parking mode if you hardwire the dash cam to your vehicle (optional hardwire kit required).

The camera comes with both a suction and adhesive mount. The camera can swivel 360° to record interactions at your side windows (i.e. police traffic stop). The CR750 is a medium sized camera at 86 x 66 x 32mm. If mounted behind the mirror it is somewhat discreet when using the adhesive mount but still noticeable.

The Crosstour CR750 has below average build quality and feels cheaply made, particularly the buttons. Unfortunately the CR750 does not come with audio error notifications. It does provide error notifications on the screen but these can easily be missed by the driver.

Support

Crosstour appears to be responsive to questions but beyond that, the camera has limited support. While Crosstour has a website, we have not seen any firmware updates for this camera since it has been launched. Crosstour provides a 12 month warranty, which is standard for most dash cams.

Like other Crosstour products sold on Amazon, the manufacturer offers free gifts in exchange for reviews. This is not the most ethical practice since reviews obtained due to free gifts are not unbiased. We believe this has influenced the positive ratings on Amazon.

Known Problems

SD card errors

Numerous owners complain of card full errors and loop recording is not working. Try using a different SD card and ensure you format the card in the dash cam.

Broken Suction Cup Mounts

The quality of the suction cup mount is quite poor with numerous owners indicating that it has broken on them.

SD Card Slot

There have been a few complaints regarding the SD card slot. Cards sometimes fall into the camera or the spring stops working. Overall build quality is not the best.

Should I Purchase

The Crosstour CR750 is an affordable rideshare camera but there are numerous drawbacks. Video quality and build quality are below average. Also the lack of audio error notifications, use of a battery instead of capacitor, average reliability and the unethical practice of providing free gifts in exchange for positive reviews on Amazon makes this dash cam a pass.
