The Vantrue N1 Pro (sometimes called the N1 Pro Mini) is a small Chinese single channel dash cam released in Jun 2018. This dash cam is popular on Amazon and has many positive reviews.
The N1 Pro is based on the Novatek NT96658 processor and Sony Exmor IMX323 CMOS sensor. While these are older components, they are decent quality and can be found in numerous other dash cams.
Video Quality
The N1 Pro records 1080p video at 30fps with an average bitrate of 14.7 Mbps. Video quality during the day is good and night quality is average. While not the best video quality, most owners will find it quite acceptable particularly in the day time.
Features
The N1 Pro is a no-frills, simple camera. The camera has a 1.5″ screen and g-sensor. An optional GPS mount can be purchased separately. On the negative side, he camera does not come with WiFi, only has non-buffered parking mode, uses a lithium battery instead of a capacitor (uses a lithium battery instead) and does not provide audio screen error notifications.
The camera comes with a suction mount that allows it to swivel 360° to record interactions at your side windows (i.e. police traffic stop). The N1 Pro is a very small camera with dimensions of 64 x 50 x 38mm. While the camera unit itself is small the suction mount and rectangular form factor makes it a bit less stealthy than some of the smaller wedge cameras. The camera is lightweight and build quality is average. There have been numerous complaints on the quality of the mount used for this camera.
Support
Vantrue appears to be responsive to questions and has adequate support. They also provide firmware updates which is a positive as well. The Vantrue warranty covers 18 months, longer than many other dash cam manufacturers.

Known Problems
Loses current date and time
A number of owners indicate the the current date and time is lost. When this occurs, video files will not be overwritten correctly. This is due to a dead battery that can no longer hold a charge. You would either need to replace the battery (not a simple procedure) or attempt to get the camera fixed by Vantrue if it is still under warranty.

Should I Purchase?
The Vantrue N1 Pro performs adequately as a no frills dash cam. Vantrue provides decent support and a 18-month warranty. While video quality is not the greatest, most people will find it suitable.
Reliability for the N1 Pro has been average with the biggest knock against the camera being the internal battery. The camera is small, but we do prefer the more discreet wedge form factor. While not the best value for your money, the N1 Pro is an ok dash cam.
