Ok, I'd rather have higher quality for now too. I just wanted to raise a big stink about it, so maybe the developers will make it a higher priority to fix/optimize things to work in .MOV in the near future or next generation camera. I also wanted to point out that e-prance ebay's despcription says it records in MOV H.264. FTW(HK)LTD AliExprss also says it records MOV H.264 files (more wrong advertising)

Givoe on AliExpress at least says MOV,TS (but that's still confusing leaving MOV in there at all)

So yeah as you said, it's too unstable using .MOV I won't hold my breath, case closed will use as is for now. (done and done)

at least GIVOE was straight up with you, maybe they just know the product better though, not saying the others are doing anything wrong, they are possibly not even aware that there's a difference, just selling something doesn't automatically make them an expert, in many cases they'll just read what's in a manual and assume it's correct

I talked to this factory back in early May and they tried fixing it back then, it's fixable, they just don't know how so they've worked within their limitations to create a solution, that's far better than just putting buggy product out there I think

I totally agree! Well I'm glad all this technical info is here for everyone to read now. I'll still have enough fun as is. At least I can rest easy knowing it's not a mystery. So it will be a pain working with TS files, but I'll make do.

I just responded to FTW(HK)LTD on AliExpress asking they CONFIRM it's for sure .MOV It don't trust her response since she could just be reading the own product page which says H.264 MOV! I explained to her the other resellers have the same description but records in .TS still. (and to please double check it's truely .MOV)

I'll give it a shot if it is as long as the bitrate is still 10MBps, waiting for their response. (not expecting it to be MOV)

Most camera's record in MP4 MOV or AVI
All these are supported with the free app http://www.registratorviewer.com/index_en.html
(you will see your trip on a map and can export to single video file) It doesn't support TS

TS is only used when there is a problem using MP4 or MOV

just to clarify, TS is not used just because there is a problem, TS is used by TV networks all around the world for MPEG4 digital TV transmissions

they can get it working reliably with TS which is why they are using it in this instance, it's not a problem format, it just doesn't work with the best playback software (Regsitrator Viewer) which is unfortunate but it doesn't take away from the product, just doesn't have the benefit of models that do work with this software, not all do of course, plenty of others that can't work with it also

True True, I was just trying to explain to the support sales person in a non technical way about TS being used when it wasn't supposed to be used. (and Advertising it as MOV was wrong)

Never Mind the below (for now), the output file size is 0k !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! didn't work, back to the drawing board to find a mp4 conversion that's compatible!

I found a crude yet some what simple work around to use our .TS files in the RegistratorViewer app

Convert TS to MP4! (and keep the same exact 1080P resolution & BitRate)

1) Download and install HandBrake (it's open source, they have version for all platforms) and install
http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php

2) Drag and drop the .TS file into the HandBrake window. Select the "Regular" "High Profile" Preset on the right. Select the Video tab, and change Quality to "Avg Bitrate" = 10450
EDIT: 10450 is a touch too high, 10350 is probably closer to the original, but going higher is better than lower!

If you're only going to do one file, click the green start button.

EDIT (one more annoying thing)
You also have to set the Picture tab "Cropping" to Custom, and pick 0 for everything. If you don't do this, it won't output 1920x1080 and RegistratorViewer will complain about mismatch.
Make sure you click Options in the lower right "Set Default" that way your new High Profile will always have Cropping set to Custom 0,0,0,0

NOTE: If you want to convert a bunch of TS files at once, click the Add To Queue button (instead of the Star Button). When you're ready process all files, click Show Queue button, and then The Queue's Start button on the new window that appears showing the Queue.

3) Place the new .MP4 files where the original .TS files were. Make sure the .mp4 files names are the same as the original .ts files were. This way they match the .log files of the GPS folder

HandBrake Tip: You'll notice that HandBrake adds a -1 at the end of files by default. You can turn this off in Tools, Options, General, Output Files, Format = "{source}" <~~~ withOUT the quotes just {source} You can also change the MP4 file extension "Always use MP4" here as well

4) Drag the new .MP4 files into Registration viewer, and you'll notice everything is playable, location data is there, and you can save a select time sequence into a NEW mp4 WITH GPS data!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Done and Done
You should notice the new MP4 files are the same file size as the TS files were. You can compare bitrate in Windows by right clicking, properties, details, bitrate should be just over 100000 (the same as the original TS)

P.S. Don't even try WinAvi didn't work

It is a good answer that there is no MOV version for this model, if you willing to search it on Amazon or Alibaba, you will find there is no MOV version of this model on market, maybe the factury will produce it later on.

TS and MOV are two different version, they have their own characteristics. Maybe the TS version does not fit you.

About the problem that the Registrator Viewer won't let you join .TS files! I am so sorry about it. The wedsite unsupported this TS Media Type.

As to the problems about join multiple .TS files, and it doesn't read the log files, i need to ask our technicist, while he is off- duty now, it is 20:11PM in China, Hope you can understand us.

I want to give you some notes:

1. Pls don't use any method to upgrade the vedio format, it is useless and will damage the DVR.
2. if you don't satisfied with the item, would you pls keep it on good condition( without scratch or damage)

True, it's all about the raw file I put on dropbox though in the end. VLC Player opens TS files luckily.

Yes, I got it from E-Prance and it showed up fast! So far the two complaints are 1)It records in .TS not .MOV as described and 2) a few dozen stuck pixals on the CMOS sensor but it's to be expected for a budget product.
I'm happy the audio recording is acceptible. There are small hints of disctortin on heavy bumps but that's to be exptected. You can tell they turned the gain down a bit.

Ok I have good news on my quest to use .TS files in RegistratorViewer.! (a work around) This should make me happy enough until I upgrade to a better camera that records proper .mp4/.mov

I found a fairly quick way to convert the .TS files to .MP4 with ZERO quality change/bitrate/loss and it then works with RegistratorViewer! v5.2 http://www.registratorviewer.com/download_en.html

As I said before, I happen to have a copy of Video ReDo H.264 TV Suite. (and it handles TS files natively, and will export to .TS(H.264) .MP4(H.264) (INSTANT, like 1 second flat)

I originally thought the GPS data was missing after my first test a few pages back, but it simply failed to show location data because of a simple Typo! RegistratorViewer reads the .LOG files for GPS data, I don't think our cam embeds anything into the TS file. (probably not even possible) but yeah.......
As long as you make sure the new MP4 file is the same name as the original TS file it will work, and all location data will be there in RegistratorViewer.

You posted your order details link. That's only available to you alone. It asked me to log in so I tried and got:

But yes no matter who you picked it's most likely the .TS Every sales page uses the same description of Video H.264 MOV. (which was obviously rushed out to marketing before the final "unfinished" firmware came out) At least GIVOE description says MOV TS (but they should still remove the MOV part in my opinion)

I'm guessing that ALL versions are Rev 2.1'ish at this point )both with and without the internal 2nd 8gb memory card, gps or not) Let me know what your firmware is when you get it. Mine (from ebay e-prance) is FW VER:20130727
(That's only 4 weeks ago, end of July)

It seems the person or people that write the firmware(s) can't figure out how to write MOV files in loop recording mode. (something about recycle mode screwing up from what Jokiin says) If they haven't fixed it in 6 months, there is a slim chance it will ever get resolved. I'm just glad I figured out a work around to make things work with http://www.registratorviewer.com/index_en.html

So like I said I'm just stating my educated guess based on what multiple sellers and experts on this forum said.

So there you have it folks, MOV is now available! Maybe I'll get a better CMOS censor with less dead pixels too. Hopefully the Mic / Audio is still fixed as well.

I'm going to either return the one I have back to e-prance. (if my friend can help me ship it back for free) Or I'll sell it on ebay to recover most if not all of my cost.
