A motorcyclist leads Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on a 130 miles per hour chase that covered 30 miles in an failed attempt to avoid a ticket.

Sounds exciting when you read it, but kinda underwhelming in reality. The video below captures the part of chase when the motorcycle had speed significantly ahead of the DPS chase vehicle. The old saying that you can never outrun the radio still holds true.

Bike 130mph, radio waves 186,000 miles per second !!!

Hopefully he had a surprise waiting for him at the other end.

Motorcyclist leads high-speed chase to Abilene hoping to avoid ticket

ABILENE, Texas - A motorcyclist told Texas Department of Public Safety troopers he led them on a two-county, high-speed chase because he didn't want to get a ticket.

Sgt. Fred Biddle told KTXS troopers tried to stop Steven Wayne Henry, Jr., 25 for a traffic violation around 3:20 p.m . on eastbound I-20 in Baird.

Henry drove south on Hwy 283 and then north on Hwy 36 before being stopped south of Abilene Regional Airport near Blackburn Road in Taylor County.

Reaching speeds of more than 130 miles per hour, the chase covered about 30 miles.

Henry was charged with evading arrest. His bond was set at $10,000.

What a win. He didn't get a ticket, he got a CHARGE !!!

Can't beat US50 across the Nevada desert. The road signs call it "The Loneliest Road In America" and I believe it https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/14/Loneliest_Road.jpg

From Wikipedia: "In the stretch of highway between Fallon and Delta, Utah, a span of 409 miles (658 km), there are three small towns, Austin, Eureka and Ely.[4] This span is roughly the same distance as Boston, Massachusetts to Baltimore, Maryland[5] or Paris, France to Zürich, Switzerland.[6] "

Desert, blacktop, sometimes telephone poles, and almost nothing else for hours on end. Several places are over 50 miles to the next human and one stretch is 124 miles https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1e/Us_route_50_nevada.jpg The "Top Gun" Naval Fighter Training Base is at Fallon and if you're lucky (unlucky?) a fighter may 'buzz' you from behind along the road. One of my life's unforgettable experiences :D and about the only unboring thing on that road ;)
