Why did you buy your first dash cam?

i visit korea once in a while for business and noticed that everyone had dashcams (blackbox). really didn't think much of it until i got into an accident about a year ago and thought i could benefit from having one.

Do you install the dash cam and forget about it? Or do you check it whenever you start driving?

The only thing I pay attention to is when I turn on the engine and the voice prompts that recording is started (Lukas 7900)...So far, I've never experienced missed footage, etc.

The importance of having a Dash Camera

I was in Korea a couple of months ago and saw that almost all cars had dashcams (I think they perfer the term blackbox over there). A friend told me that having a dashcam also lowers insurance rates. I think that would be a nice incentive in the US or other countries so that more drivers use...

    Beta product field testing

I'm interested as well. I currently have Lukas 7900 (front) & Lukas 3900 (rear). I'm in search for another dashcam for my second vehicle. I think this would serve a perfect opportunity to not only use, but compare it with my current setup and provide feedbacks. Thanks.

    LK-7500, impressions

Never seen a 9500/9700 model by Lukas...do you mean 7500/7900?

What size of MicroSD cards do most people use in their 1080p dash cams? 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB?

I use 64GB on my lukas 7900 (it supports up to 128GB). 128 size is a little expensive and I was able to pick up a sony class 10 64GB SD card for $25 a while back...

Lukas 7900 ace - almost decided

    1. On highest settings, each 3 minute clip is ~250MB in file size. So with the 128GB card, I'm guessing around 25-30 hours. And the videos are in maximum of 3 minute segments (30 seconds for motion/event). And there's no way to change these settings for continuous recording. 2. If you want...

What video settings are you using on your LK-7900?

Vitali, Thanks for the clarification. And also for the dropbox links. I downloaded the second link (one with the most sunshine) and I think it looks better than mine! :( I would download all videos if my internet was faster... Here's my dropbox shared link: *stock Lukas UV...

What video settings are you using on your LK-7900?

Good point. Perhaps (what appears to be a cheap) Lukas [UV] lens that is causing the blurring effect during high temperature. I only use the device while driving so it's tucked away in glovebox or inside center console when not in use or parked outside. I emailed Lukas which they responded...

    LK-7500 Cuty

It looks like the 7500 uses a different mounting mechanism that can be rotated freely--it seems superior to 7900's plastic bracket.

What video settings are you using on your LK-7900?

Today's update: 100 degrees here in Dallas...Went grocery shopping and again observed how the device would perform under hot, sunny day. The initial video quality is fine (but not as good as advertised on their website) but ~20 minutes into driving, the device seems to suffer another heat...

What video settings are you using on your LK-7900?

I use default settings on max video quality (updated to AC23) and it doesn't look as clear/detailed as the sample video that is posted on Lukas 7900 description page on their website. I, too, can only read license plates only when the car is stopped in front of me. Beyond 10 yards, it's hard...

    Lukas and Heat Issues...

Thanks for the help guys. I tested out on a mild (~85F), cloudy day and the blurry degradation did not occur even after driving for a while. I do think that the sunlight/heat has something to do with it. I'll be putting on a CPL filter (once it arrives) and see if that helps or if it's...

    Lukas and Heat Issues...

One of the main reasons I bought Lukas 7900 over others was its wide temperature range (operating: -20C to 80C). In Dallas, it's already 95+ degrees (F) and will only get warmer. So far, it has held up well (has never triggered safety mode) However, I do notice that 10-20 minutes into...

    Alternative to Lukas CPL Filter???

Thanks for the help guys. For now, I'm gonna go with Rocketfish 37mm Polarizer (RF-CP37) which is $1.99 (free shipping) at Best Buy. :o For that cheap, I'll see how it works and go from there...

    Alternative to Lukas CPL Filter???

Has anyone used aftermarket CPL filter for the Lukas 7900? The Lukas branded CPL filter goes for ~$32 on Ebay whereas an aftermarket 37mm CPL filter costs $5 to $10. I assume that they are compatible with one another... :?
