I've been considering what it would take to run a 12v battery from car 10.6-14.4 volts from alternator to power a 12v dashcam such as lukas ace or lb-100 (not USB 5v)
Obviously you can run out an buy an anypower but I'm mainly concerned with understanding what goes into these things for my own understanding and considering how you could most safely operate a battery + cam especially in ridiculously hot australian conditions.
I am wondering why you couldn't simply combine a voltage regulator/stabilizer such as

to ensure 14.4 car dc alternator volt to 12v stabilized paired with a cheap huge 9800mAh 12v battery

Because of the high temperatures in australia I may stick a heat sink on the battery

That 12v could then output that to my lb-100 or lukas ace.
I've modified my lb-100 with a 12v panasonic panaflow soldered to the 12v input on the dashcam on the back after cutting out most of the plastic shell and using a cardboard toilet roll and duct tape to ensure the cooling was focused on going through the back and out the front of the cam. I then secured the cam using 3m sticky backs and rubberbands/elastic to minimize vibration. It works fairly well however if I were to do it again I would consider using a smaller PC 486 style heatsink fan combo like this:

Anyway, my lb-100 hardly ever crashes anymore and records 24/7
It as done so for over a year. 1 SD card sandisk class 10 32gb has died from being written to constantly but they seem to hold up better then I expected they would.
This is for my company car and is running directly off the battery which has a cig outlet that never turns off. I measured the current draw (amps) of the panasonic panaflow and lb-100 as .33 amp or 300mah
9800 / 330 = 29.696969697
around 29 hours of recording.
Since this battery comes with an AC charger, it is entirely possible that you could have more than one battery made up and simply take one in with you at home to charge it over night and then change it out ensuring maximum recording time.
alternatively you could add a small solar panel and regulator (I'd imagine even with the solar regulator it might need to pass through the 12v regulator previously mentioned) to charge the battery https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/331165288478This would only work if you parked outside and not in a parking garage however.

I have seen a tear down of the lukas ace but was unable to see how I would add direct cooling to that beast besides using a panasonic panaflow trying to make a wind tunnel.
These are just my thoughts, and I would appreciate hearing from those that are interested in the DIY aspects of constant 12v dashcam recording for parking. Currently my work car runs off the cars battery and using a car or AGM deep cycle battery could give you (assuming the deep cycle is drained no more then 50%) a long term solution with massive power however I know not everyone is able to modify their car if they have a work car or such as may require a more temporary solution that also does not drain the main battery.
